same thing happened couple days ago here. supermirafiori 1600 was sold for scrap iron for 70e. two days before i contacted the owner. i wanted that interior and engine. bodywork was rotten anyway. 6mnths ago i "saved" an 132 2.5d from the crushers. not in time though, they already crushed the roof. i'm pilaging it for parts now.

I hate hearing of that as well. My 131 was on its way to the crusher when I got it. No rust, no dents, not accidents.... oh well....lets crush it!

How can you crush a car like this?

And to add.. my dearly departed Uncle Arn from Alton well Hedley Borden in Hampshire where on his land last December contained approx 35 yes 35 + old classics in varying states of condition.
inc 2 Fiat 850's both sold on ebay by his friend & Citroen Dianne, Amys a Fiat panda & early suicide door 500 - retained by his good friend, all hidden under temporary makeshift covers ( to avoid battles with local council ) and his old Fiat 131 mk3 super  a white 4 door...........yes there it was on the video complete intact & looking quite sound............ I am advised ?35 each car for scrap.

I was gutted, but thats life & fortunately there are people out there that do care in keeping alive relatively low value box saloon classics.

My Alfetta was a lovely car in its day, no value now, everyone wants Giulia ti's, or even the GTV versions - sad.

Thats my pennyworth.

Ian

As I said before, I would love your Alfetta. I actually prefer the saloon cars to the GTVs and so on. It's just that I currently have no money and no space! I'm currently on holiday in Italy in Sulmona Abruzzo. I have seen a lovely green Alfetta parked up a few times here. I'll get a photo if I can!

To be honest Dave it has serious rot  in boot floor sills etc but main floor pan appears very sound wings & bonnet gone too. The reason I acquired her for the lovely alloys & reg plate. Interior is mint too.
Of course they were rallied with equal balance due to transaxle design. The spica injection is all there oh well time will tell.

met up with Steve from Donnington last weekend he has since we last met broken a further 2 Strada Abarths now just 2 left & his 4 door mk3 super like mine will get some pics of his cars.

He has a Guy Croft engine part built with big wing sump, stage 3 head ? hot alquati cams I think etc in his Kitchen a true 131 fanatic, seeing him again this weekend to drop off some 131 doors - garage clearance - off the panorama & some other bits.

My 131 comes out at long last watch this Forum for the dreaded pics to come.

noted the rear  leading edge of roof has lightly rusted through again, this has a distinctly raised edge against the Sports design, I never quite new why & reason rusts accordingly ?

Cheers anyway

We go way back to the twin cam register days of Phil McLean et all, bit reclusive, but very knowledgeable on the marque.

Will def post some pics tomorrow, warning his cars are not a pretty sight I'm afraid.

It's a shame any classic car is sent to the crusher..let alone 131's  >:(. Ages ago Wayne and I went to Wales looking for some parts and stumbled across this lot...

Everyone was to be crushed, some lovely cars there. I could have spent all day looking around the place. Dave will know what I mean as he's been there as well.

There are people out there looking for cars that are in that place and would gladly remove them free of charge and restore them.
If i was living close to that place,i would take the lot and place them in one of my fields ;).Eugene

sad to say, but metal recyclers are merciless. same place i savaged that 132 from i also saw reno 5turbo from which they separated aluminum parts. they cut off engine head and gearbox bolts with acetilene torch! ofcourse, afther that bellhousing and head were half melted. there was also a peugeot 304, and alfa sprint there. they didn't make it.
