Title: LeMons Race in Europe
Post by: blue92 on November 04, 2008, 06:40:37 AM
Do you guys have a 24 Hours of LeMons race in Europe? My car club here in the US just did one of these races, it's not really a 24 hour race it's a 2 day race 7 hours each day. You can't pay more than $500. for the car. The organizers do 7 races a year through out the US. It's a great way for people to get into road racing without spending loads of money on equipment and a race car. The biggest expense is having to put a roll cage in the car. Well have fun guys, later. :)

well to do that here would be impossible because of the insurance cover that would be needed, it would cost a fortune.

Here's a clip of our team driving our entry "El Toro Loco". That's coolant on the windshield we blew the engine the 1st day. We worked all night and dropped in another 3.0 liter engine by 4am. Our team won MOST HEROIC FIX award.

Maybe the organizers of the US group can figure out away to get something organized somewhere over there.  ???

why would you need insurance cover on a racetrack? In the US road racing usually just means a track with corners in both directions as opposed to an oval.

I haven't heard of clapped out old car endurance type races here in new zealand, but we do have jallopy racing - more or less the same thing but with shorter races. usually held on a dirt speedway track. usually have a few races and then the last race at the end of the night is a demolition derby.

We used to have stock car racing here but as i said Insurance & the police put a stop to it, this Ireland you know the most expensive country on the planet with the worst muppets for government & police & customs i could go on & on & on.
