Title: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: bellamacchina on November 12, 2008, 10:30:07 PM Hello 131 lovers,
Today I visited Guy Moerenhout, the wellknown Abarth specialist. I had a long talk with him and could make pictures from really everything I wanted. He also permitted me to place everything on our beloved forum. Here are some pictures I made today. I made a lot more, also from the 9 131's plus 2 bodies which were standing there. YES, including 2 original Abarth Stradales and 1 Works car! Do pictures tell enough, or do you want a longer story?? Maybe introduce some of the cars later in the showroomsection??? Have fun ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: bellamacchina on November 12, 2008, 10:31:15 PM ,

I particularly like the silver 4 door and the green estate. Some very interesting cars, was there a 130, 132 or Argenta? Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: eugene on November 13, 2008, 01:11:56 AM Albert,a big thank you for those photos.I really really enjoyed them.

Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: pintopower on November 13, 2008, 08:30:24 PM Wow! Amazing stuff there! That x1/9 abarth isn't real correct? Far as i know there were four of them. 3 are in private collections in Japan, and one is in Milan right now for resto. That must have been a joy for you to be around such amazing cars. Thanks for sharing the photos with us!
Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: Gremlino on November 13, 2008, 09:10:53 PM Quote That x1/9 abarth isn't real correct? Ahem... Without wanting to sound negative I feel I must just say a few but hopefully well chosen words about Guy and his cars. I have seen myself both genuine and reproduction cars at Guy's establishment... both types advertised as 'original Abarths'. Now there could be two trains of thought going on here. 1, He believes them to all be original. 2, He wants you to believe them all original. I'm trying not to be controversial here but I just felt this needs to be said...bearing in mind his cars when advertised are always priced as genuine. He was a successful Rally driver for Polski FIAT back in the 70's. I've known Guy for about 10 years now and I would say that he is a very knowledgable, charismatic, enthusiastic and humourous person.... a good bloke to bump into at Abarth events. Whether you feel the same may depend on if you have had business dealings with him. Like I said I didn't want to sound negative, just trying to give an impression based on what I myself and friends know. Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: bellamacchina on November 13, 2008, 09:16:17 PM During my visit Guy was very clear about which was real and which were replica's.
I cannot say anything negative in that direction myself :) :) Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: markwilliams131 on November 13, 2008, 09:29:34 PM wow some great pics albert some lovely cars i do love the 128 3p

In time people change, I like to think that we all learn from experience. Some of us have more experience than others ;) Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: bellamacchina on November 13, 2008, 10:15:41 PM Mark, I will let you know but they are very scarce :)
Graham, completely true! Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: Thotos on November 13, 2008, 10:45:42 PM There have been a couple of very nice 128 3Ps for sale in the UK recently.
Title: Re: Visit to Guy Moerenhout Post by: Gremlino on November 13, 2008, 10:52:16 PM Mike Zollo might be selling his red & stripey car ( the one from the pics ).
Its not the first time he's sold a good clean 3P, this was his until a couple of years ago.... |
