Title: Strut brace?
Post by: Tas131 on December 30, 2008, 08:55:57 AM
In a post about a diesel 131, there is a photo of a strut brace. Does anyone use a strut brace on their 131 and is it worth the effort?

I do and I believe it makes a difference.

Forum member mick131 (http://131mirafiori.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=36) was going to make some of them but I am not sure if he did or not. Have a look at the forum thread about strut brace fabrication at http://131mirafiori.com/smf/index.php?topic=171.0

I do not use such strut brace in my rally car but i have a roll cage that has a direct connection to the strut tops. It makes the difference for sure in cars with mcperson type suspension. Easy to make and helps with cornering :)

Could you post some pics of your cage as I am getting ready to strip my Lada (keep you happy Eugene) and build her for some mountain driving thanks Dave

Thanks, but the roll cage was not made by me. I give such works to my friend who makes them for living and he always makes the job right. Of course it is with all the papers to allow it to compete in any FIA events.

I was wondering if this might be doable on US spec 131s but I'm thinking there is too many things in the way. Like the distributor and carburator. Definetly not with a stock air cleaner.
