Title: 82 131 Supermirafiori on Ebay
Post by: Paul S on January 13, 2009, 10:08:12 AM
This was just like mine back in the late 80's but I fitted 14" Sport wheels, nice to see this one with the S3 wheels and trim rings. Apparently this one has been resprayed, looks tidy on the outside but interior looks a bit shabby.

Will be interesting to see what price it fetches.

Although seems the car is not fitted with air conditioning, there are some (for me) unidentified parts in the left side of the hood where the airco is usually placed. Also the owner has not specified the engine capacity.

This is a series 3 Supermirafiori with the 2 litre engine and power steering. I think what you are calling "unidentified" is the power steering fluid reservoir.

;D now this shows that I have never driven a power steering equipped 131, what a pity!  ;D
How about this power assistance? Is it effective or it's so so as the wiper is?

Certainly makes the steering a lot lighter. Some might say too light, but I much prefer the cars with power steering.

If I remember correctly from all those years ago, my S3 Super had quite progressive power steering, i.e. it was lighter at lower speeds.?

Yes I'm pretty sure it was on ebay last year as a restoration project having been stored in a barn for 12 years or so.

I thought only modern cars had progressive power steering, electronically controlled. How should it work a mecanical P.S. to be progressive? It seems quite complicated, all this stuff is cheap if electronically driven but usually expansive if otherwise. See for example automatic gearboxes.

my mind is fuzzy as it was 20 yrs ago but I am sure I remember reading something in the handbook.  Hydraulics I guess.  I mean I could be wrong.....

The fact that is now over ?2000 with days to go and the reseve not met might have something to do with it....

I wonder what price it will reach? The credit crunch does not seem to be affecting the price of this car then!

Or perhaps the car required a lot of preparation work before the paint which cost a lot of money? Who knows. The only way to tell really is to go and see the car as I do not think it is possible to tell true condition from photographs alone. As Eugene says the owner is looking for at least ?5000 for it I would be suprised if it sells, however I could be wrong.

If it was mint perhaps, but it isn't.  There was a fully restored Supermirafiori VX for sale in Italy recently that was 6500 Euro with decent mileage.  There is no way this car is worth similar money to an Abarth 4 door.
