Looks like its worth saving the windcsreen and other bits and pieces too - Is the owner willing to allow a scavenge hunt..?

I think the glass will be about the only parts on that one which would 'go again'. Shows that these Fiat 131s really can rust ;D

about the owner 2/3 yrs ago and came up blank so if I can get it

You would be surprised what bits one could salvage from the car as Kev says the glass.Also the back axle,gearbox/engine(thats if there still in it).The best way to scavange it is to bring the gas bottles and take whats worth to salvage.I am prepared to take my truck and gas bottles,if others are prepared to lend a few hands.Otherwise some day this car will be picked up and crushed or a hole dug for it and RIP.So are we on for a scavange /rummage??? ::).Eugene

Ok,whats the story here ??? ::).All talk and no action.If ther are any bits left on the car,it is a pity to see it some day being crushed to bits and the parts being crushed with it.Again,i am prepared to offer my services to collect what parts that are salvageable.Eugene

that motor is still there as far as I know , have not been back that way
for a while . if you want diarections I can give them to you its not far
off the Killarney / Dingle road . make it a day trip for GKMR09 .Sean

the story with the car is that it is owned by an elderly gentleman and a little bit eccentric and rather than going out there and scavaging any more parts i  am working on getting whatever parts that are worth saving, after all the car is going no where fast.

So finally i put my money where my mouth is and last saturday the 27feb 2010,myself and Seamus(Sam22) headed off at 3.30pm in the Transit pick up(Didn't bring the Lada Niva as i don't like showing off).We got all the glass off the car except for the rear window which was broken.We also got the back axle,boot door hinges,starter motor,rear lenses,number plate,some bits of chrome,wiper mechanism.
The gearbox we didnt get out as darkness fell,but i will go back for it at a later date,however the box is a five speed.I thought the series 1 had only a four speed box ::).Also the front seats had headrests with the same colour seating as my own,but my car does not have headrests.
Simon,does your series 1 have a 5speed box ::)and does it have headrests?.

Yes, all  ;D of my series 1s have a 5 speed 'box, but only the Abarth has headrests. Both of my Specials have the seats without headrests. Couldn't fit them even if wanted to....unless of course I changed the whole seat. ;D

Can you not add them to the seat? Although you would have to cut into the cover often the seat frames are the same.

that ball of scrap is finished,its one for miro then he would have all the parts & abarth identity!

So today thursday the 11th of march 2010,i had to go to Kerry airport to collect my friend Jason from London,so i took the Transit pick up and got the gearbox and engine out of the 131.Started at 3pm and had them out and seperated by 5.30pm all on my own.Got everything loaded by 6.15pm.So now whats left of the car is more or less zero.Now whats left can RIP.Got the flywheel as well.Twas a pity that the car in Wales wasn't rescued for parts.Thanks again to Seamus(Sam22) for the previous help.Eugene

In fact you are right !  Probably the only thing I would want from this car would be the identity. (papers). ;D ;D ;D

Maybe few parts ( engine - if the cost was under 500 Euro).

 The car is a total scrap.
