http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170319180222 anyone bidding on here Title: Re: for sale Post by: simon131 on April 11, 2009, 10:10:53 AM I'm not bidding on it but I did have a chat with the guy selling it on behalf of his neighbour. Knows nothing about 131s hence him thinking it was a Sport rather than a Special.
Also knows nothing about it's true worth and I think the fact that he has declared what the reserve is on the advert it has had potential buyers pushing it up there to see if anyone will push it over. I wonder what the bidding would be if the reserve had not been declared. ??? Much lower I suspect :-\ If it doesn't sell I shall go and see if and take a few pics. Title: Re: for sale Post by: eugene on April 11, 2009, 10:38:33 AM I put a bid in at 1606.00.Also wanted to see if bids from outside the UK were blocked, which happened recently when trying to bid for a Lada Riva.Yes Simon,it will be intresting to see what it will make come the end of the auction.Eugene

Eugene - will you be disappointed if it disappears after a bidder goes "buy it now"? If the answer is yes that will be because you know that you will have missed a rare opportunity to buy what looks like a car in exceptional condition for it's age. Think hard about that extra ?500 and is it worth going the extra mile..? I too have spoken with the vendor and as Simon says they are not Fiat experts. In fact I found them to be a little less forthcoming with information than I would expect. I did establish that there is a small bit of rust bubbling on one wing (arch?) and that some plating has been done on one sill. I'm told no welding underneath and that the car drives "very well". It sounds like the car should be able to drive you home saving on transport costs. Minimal VRT and car tax costs back in Ireland and for around ?2500 you would have a very nice classic RHD 131 on the road.? :) I would think about getting the cambelt done before setting off though.? ??? If you arrive in Berkshire and the car does not meet your expectations you do not have to proceed. By the way I think the grey Super 2000TC is back for sale again with cooling and engine work completed. I saw it advertised in the Fiat club magaizne. No price but this S1 looks a far better bet with an instantly useable car...and in time for 3MA09!? :) Title: Re: for sale Post by: 20vturbo on April 13, 2009, 12:07:30 PM cambelt? i wouldn't think a ohv 131 would really need that changed.
Title: Re: for sale Post by: mirafioriman on April 13, 2009, 04:39:51 PM They do have one, but it is very short and I don't think they are prone to snapping, but I could be wrong! Always better to change it. A friend of mine has just bought a 53 plate car, not due a cambelt change, but it has snapped and wrecked the engine!

Title: Re: for sale Post by: kev131 on April 14, 2009, 05:32:09 PM 20 minutes to go and a bid of ?1656 - Come on Eugene - get bidding! :D
Title: Re: for sale Post by: chris131 on April 14, 2009, 05:53:58 PM Just ended ?1656 and reserve not met. Wonder what will happen now ???
Title: Re: for sale Post by: eugene on April 14, 2009, 06:35:37 PM I tried to bid in the last 3minutes of time remaining, but my bid would not register. Also i have a feeling that the seller may have been pushing the price up,by getting friends of his to bid.I have been told a lot of this goes on in e-bay.Maybe i will end up with the car ::).Who knows.Yes kev,you are right about the timing belt.I would change it before i would even start the engine as the system does not have a tensioner to tighten the belt.So a new belt is a must, otherwise to gamble could cost one a wrecked engine.Maybe the car will be relisted when it didn't make the reserve price.Eugene
Title: Re: for sale Post by: kev131 on April 14, 2009, 08:06:52 PM If you were prepared to pay more that the max bid give him a ring and make your offer - You'd never know - ?1800 could secure the car for you. :)
