Title: Lancia Gamma Updates
Post by: Thotos on April 21, 2009, 08:21:37 PM
I removed the spin-off thread from the Events section as it didn't belong there. In fact it doesn't belong on this forum at all! If anyone is interested in what's happening to my Gamma you can read all about it on the Lancia Gamma Forum (http://www.lanciagammaforum.com)

(Here's a link to the marathon thread http://gammaconsortium.com/lanciagammaforum/index.php?topic=475.0)

I can follow the link and access the forum (and  see the forbidding thread title ie "My car in bits") but I can go no further - Must I download the recommended "firefox" software to be able to read the postings..?  ???

Me 2 ...after a delay and some patience...

Blimey I never realised Gilbert was so "ill" Theo and you are certainly a brave man taking that on. Interesting to see the before and after photos of the repair work.

Will you repaint in the same colour..?

Gilbert looked very good in Auto Italia magazine and those photos were taken just a month before the "repair" started. It's amazing what you can find lurking underneath what seems like minor paint blemishes! And yes, he will be the same colour again.

Incidentally, the Lancia Gamma Forum does not work well with Internet Explorer 6 so you either need to use a newer version of Internet Explorer or use a different browser. I meant to fix that but never got round to it.

I think you are doing the right thing getting it sorted. When it is done you will know it really is solid. Yes you could buy another, but the chances are sooner or later the rust would appear and you would be back in the same situation.......

Also, some people talk about 'surface rust'. In my experience on Fiats it does not exist. If it is rusty you will be able to make it into a hole! I would suspect Lancias have the same trait.

It looks bad, but will soon look much better.

Incidentally I had the same trouble with the 130 (both the rust and removing the glass!). Still got the back screen to do.
