in the future, please be so kind to post pictures and precise description of item you're trying to sell. recently i was offered a set of door panels in "good" condition for a hefty price. i really don't need to waste any time on items such as these Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: sid131 on May 02, 2009, 10:07:03 AM Why didnt you get a pic first before buying? & if you paid by paypal or visa you will get your money back, know your rights! some people have tried to rip me off in the past when restoring my celica but i always got my money refunded when paypal refused once over a spoiler that never arrived i contacted my bank about the visa payment & got my money back, dont be walked on mate, good luck.

just the question of what you'd call a part in good condition Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: sid131 on May 02, 2009, 11:58:36 AM i got door cards for my celica in holland they were in pretty bad shape but had no speaker holes in them, i got them fixed up & they look like new now think they were ?150?
Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: djape1977 on May 02, 2009, 06:46:36 PM well if you know of a way to fix those 132 door cards please enlighten me. the damage on the pics above is typical of 132's, in fact, ive only seen a couple of those in proper nick in my life. they also bend and warp due to heat and sunlight and are impossible to straighten. i even thought about making a mold and using fiberglass to make new ones
Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: sid131 on May 02, 2009, 06:59:58 PM i was lucky at the time i was working in a coachbuilders that made new mercedes limos & hearses & they were looked after in there, making a fiberglass mould is the way to go & then recover the fiber panel, but you will destroy the original panel doing so, that one in the pic just needs recovered?
Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: djape1977 on May 02, 2009, 07:58:15 PM all of them. they're all cracked, bent and torn. no problem destroying those panels, they're good for nothing anyhow, just that i can't get a decent mould off 'em.
and a roofliner too. it's the same construction as in 131 so ih has the same sagging problem Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: sid131 on May 03, 2009, 12:20:42 PM have you ever made a mould before? you basically have to reshape the panel & fill in all the holes tears & bleamishes etc, make a steel frame & attach the panel to it in the same shape as will be needed to fit on the car, glue the frame to the panel so it dont move, then the panel will have to be painted nice & shiny so that the mould can then be made from it, & you will also have to make a steel frame to brace the mould & then you can make door cards for every 132 in the world!
Title: Re: PLEASE READ!!! Post by: djape1977 on May 03, 2009, 10:46:16 PM only time i ever worked with the fiberglass is when i patched up my boat couple of years ago. i'll have to start sooner rather than later.
