Title: URGENT HELP NEEDED ON Solex P11-6 !!!
Post by: miro-1980 on May 16, 2009, 12:33:21 PM
Hi, guys,

I need help with understanding the Solex P11-6.  I searched for schematics or even good pictures and found none.

A set of two of these is still on my 131 and before I replace them with Weber 40 IDF's or Weber 44 IDF's I need to run few track events.

The first of them is next Friday!

So if anybody has any data, pictures schematuics , adjustment manuals , instructions , please share !

The Solex has given me a lot of grief as there appear too many screws.

Please HELP !

Miro

Hi Miro

Sorry I don't have anything that you mention but as you search on line it might help to search Fiat Ritmo Abarth sites - I believe that some versions came with solex carbs fitted although I'm not sure of the model number.

Cheers

I fitted a set of Solexes to my 131 and even rebuilt them first, but could not get them to run right so I fitted Dellortos instead.

The Solex PII is a downdraft carb, like the Weber IDF. The Ritmo Abarth had sidedraft fitted (Solex ADDHE, I have them on my 131). So, nothing to find on the Fiat pages. Try Porsche 356 pages, the 356 were sometimes equipped with Solex PII.

Cheers,
Robert

Thanks Guys!

I looked on Porche pages , but they used PII-4 which were different.( Plenty on those!)

I also looked at the Abarth pages - to no avail, but I believe we have figured out what all the screwes are all about . Hope we can synchonize them  :-\

Thanks again.

By the way if somebody needs 87 pages of usless Solex documentation , be my guest. Will happily send you a pdf manual which includes all the Solex carbs I have never heard of !

Nice pictures with info but mirafioriman did you use the ritmo manifold as if so the inclination of the ritmo engine prevents the carbs ever running right.... hope this helps anyone doing a 130tc conversion

I used a guy croft manifold with them (that I now use with the Dellortos) couldn't seem to get them to run right even after a rebuild and thorough clean out.

I did not pay much for them and sold them on again to get my money back so I decided to just give up on them and fit Dellortos instead (which I was advised were a better choice than Webers or Solexes).

I have my Webers 40 and 45 at GC at the moment ( the linkage is taken off the 40's to put on the 45's which will be put on the new GC engine).

I was not happy with my Solexes, until I switched mechanics (from a top capital city carburetor expert to local "Joe and son" garage. The "Joe and Son"tuned the engine, tuned the carbs and now they do work fine.

These are actually pretty good carbs - just not for the sports use ...

Soon they will go on sale ...

Miro? ?

There are two carb schools in the vintage cars : one of MR Weber and the other of Mr. Dellorto.   - Webers are more popular and thus more available , including spare parts , etc. Mots of my friends use Webers , but some use Dellorto ... its is a matter of what turns you on. I do not know of technical differences which make one superior to the other.        ;D
