Hello KEV i think we need expert advice here because even on rhd cars there can be differences between them so if anyone has any knowledge of these let us know here. We are looking for 1 for a lhd car

Your lucky! I'd love to have a cable operated system on my 131.

US spec X 1/9s and 131s had vacuum operated ventilation controls most likely because most if not all had air conditioning and the diaphrams bust when they get old. Usually the defroster canister busts and all the air diverts toward the windscreen and no air hits the floor.

To "fix" my 131 I broke the diaphram off the defroster. I'm going to connect the acuator with a choke cable.

Now with the defroster vent closed, the air is diverted toward the floor however once the dash vents are open most of the air comes out the vents so I think this will work without having to remove the dash and try to source new vacuum canisters.

Since FIAT underestimated our hot humid climate and used an undepowered system, I have no plans on trying to get the original system functioning. I'm hoping to retrofit a R132a compressor from a Chyrsler minivan as well as the condensor and dryer. Mainly because Mk1 models(~1994) were V-belt driven.

Hopefully the originally evaporator will be sufficient. I don't know it's worth a shot. The plumbing and wiring is all there.

Well I don't quite have one either...yet!? ;)

Bren - This is available on Ebay - Does it look like it will fit? - It's from a Fiat Brava (in the USA) so should be LHD.
