Title: Hope nobody wanted my 18,000 mile super shell!
Post by: mirafioriman on June 07, 2009, 09:55:40 PM
Because now it does not exist any more! I kept any useful bits after hacking it to pieces this afternoon.

Removed the roof to keep first.

Then chopped it in half!

Removed the rear panel to keep. It is not perfect but I do not currently have any spare series 2 rear panels.

Then removed the fuel filler area. I also kept a few other bits and pieces.

All that is now left is a pile of scrap to weigh in!

Well it was pretty badly rusted and I did offer it here for sale for a while. (Unsuprisingly) nobody wanted it.

If you are leaving those bits out in the british weather you might as well call the scrap man now but maybe I will talk to Eugene to see what we should do now...

Dave hope you kept the firewall, dash & all the rhd stuff, would be great to have those parts to convert a rust free????? left hooker.

The dash is mint so I have kept this as I will be fitting it to the estate car which has a damaged one in it at the moment. The firewall I did not think about to be honest and is now cut in half (widthways) although I still have it at the moment.

Infact I still have virtually every part of this car as when I cut up the shell it was completely stripped.

Well Sid there would be no mot standard welding having to weld 2 halves of a bulkhead together or she could be an inch or two too wide  ::) ::)

Yes Scott I'm afraid the LHD Argenta did not make it. Decided to do the RHD one I aquired instead and the LHD one was used for any useful bits.

I am based in Ireland and have been my best to save the Fiats I have but judging by the pile that was the Argenta it seemed solid enough....

just looking at the pics again i see that the inner wheel wells are pretty solid where the back seat sits, keep them David cos they can be reused, i have to replace both of mine as they are completely rusty, but i got new ones off Yagmur a while back.

Too late now I'm afraid as all the parts in the picture except the bulkhead pieces and the floorpan at the back have now been weighed in. I do try to keep as much stuff that is or could be useful as I can but there is even a limit to how much I can keep ::)

If only there was a port tunnel between ireland and the uk the scrapman wouldnt have as much buisness with old fiats :)

to be honest it was best the silver 131 ended up with dave.

i saved the car from a banger racer in 2001,it was rotten then.

it sat with me for a while,i then decided to part company with it,

it then ended up in fife where the sub standard repairs were done by a garage owner,i told him i wanted first refusal when he sold it,he didn't honor this and sold it on ebay to liverpool, then dave bought it.

it would have ended up passing through more owners until being scrapped or robbed for its running gear,at least now its parts will help his fleet.

Sure is this not what happened is the power train not in another car that was driving before hand and the rest cut up into small pieces.....

The only thing not saved was the bare shell. I have every other part and the shell was advertised for sale but nobody wanted it so it got cut up.

I think it is time for this thread to be laid to rest as what is done is done. Lets all move on.......
