Title: 3MA09 - Team Ireland Day 4 Post by: kev131 on June 17, 2009, 09:02:03 PM Day 4 was a Sunday and the day that we planned to drive south of Turin into the hills to sample a typical Italian sunday dinner amongst the vinegroves. It was also the day that we said goodbye to Dawn and Steve who had planned to start their 3 day return trip - Here they are setting off from the hotel, back over the Alps and home via the French Riviera in an open top car.
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09105.jpg) The group set off in two convoys planning to meet at the intended village called Donaglia. The rendezvous nearly didnt happen due to some unexpected road closures and the reluctance of some 3MAers to leave Bra behind!? ;) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/P1030992.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/P1040001.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/P1040029.jpg) Group photos were the order of the day when we arrived, both of the attendees and the cars! (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09110.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09119.jpg) This series 2 Supermirafiori 1300TC complete with child seats had not been seen before Day 4. Lovely to see one in the most typical colour when it was new. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09112.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09115.jpg) Some more shots of the parked Mirafioris. There were 12 assembled in the same spot for this congregation. PLus a pristine restored series 2 Fiat 132 1800 GLS and an absolute peach of a 124 Spider. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09150.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09153.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09157.jpg) This was another "new" 131 on the day. Actually series 3 131s were ten a penny at 3MA09. Another reason to take my Sport next year!!? ;) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09162.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09163.jpg) The dinner itself was 10 courses with plentiful supplies of the locally produced wine. The cost was ?30 per person and that included 2 extra bottles to take away per car. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09139.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09142.jpg) After 3 hours of feasting and talking 131s in 3 different languages, we set off for home. We timed our departure badly because we found oursleves in the middle of a mass departure of classic tractors who felt no compulsion to pull in and let the long queues behind them overtake. In fact the local car drivers seemed to treat these mobile chicanes with the holy respect shown to the cow in India and were prepared to sit behind the tractors with infinite patience. Were the homeward bound 131s going to conform to what ever local tradition was being upheld or were they going to attempt to break up the comfortable status quo.? ??? ? We never did manage to see the looks on the faces of the car and tractor drivers as they were overtaken at speed by a convoy of twin cam 131s, even on the bends as the front cars radioed notification of the clear roads back to the hindmost cars!? ;) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09315.jpg) (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l250/kev131/3MA09318-1.jpg) Title: Re: 3MA09 - Team Ireland Day 4 Post by: mirafioriman on June 17, 2009, 09:15:58 PM Nice to see some close up photos of the series 2 super.
