Title: Bell Housing for 2.0 litre Post by: ladalancialad on July 22, 2009, 12:19:55 PM Can anyone out there assist me with info, ie a part number, regarding which bellhousing I need so that i can be sure that the standard clutch assembly on my 2.0 Lancia engine, converted to rear-wheel drive application, will fit.
I really wish to fit this engine to my project Lada Riva but don't believe that it will fit into the standard Lada bell-housing. I am probably asking whether anyone can give me a part number for the bell housing on a 131 Mirafiori sport or Supermirafiori TC fitted with the 1995cc engine. Title: Re: Bell Housing for 2.0 litre Post by: Walezy on July 22, 2009, 07:23:07 PM It DOES fit lada bellhousing but with few mods. One it to use lada flywheel with clutch. You can use hydraulic clutch from Lada. You will also need starter motor from Lada(best will be new type with reduction gear - cheap and very good).
The only mod that needs to be made to lada bellhousing is to make a cutout that will allow the backplate from block to fit "into" bellhousing as lada must have flat block on the underside. The only problem that may occur is the clutch that has smaller diameter than 2.0l unit but with standard engine it will be fine. I have used cerametallic clutch with 180HP and it was fine. I was intending on using the 230mm clutch, which is std for the 2.0L, the list of mods that I will do to this engine means that a version from a smaller engine capacity versions probably won't last very long. The bigger mouthed bellhousing is the preferred option...if I can get one.. (rocking horse sh#*!)...finding a part number is a good start.....but proving not that easy. & for the 131 super the part number is 4418570 do you need a 131 racing bellhousing? i have a spare. Title: Re: Bell Housing for 2.0 litre Post by: djape1977 on July 25, 2009, 02:10:08 PM i already have a lada with fiat's twincam in it. 131/132 gearbox is a must. one from lada will die in 10.000km and about diff... mine lasted 30.000km, fortunately they're cheap and easy to swap
Title: Re: Bell Housing for 2.0 litre Post by: ladalancialad on July 28, 2009, 12:23:25 PM My reply to 'sid131'
Might be interested in a ' Racing ' bellhousing, how is it different to the 'super' version? Also how much would be wanting for this item....and where, generally, are you located. My reply to 'FiatFactory' The 230 clutch assembly that I have is what I believe to be the standard version that would have been fitted to the Lancia 1982 coupe which the engine came out of. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that this clutch size would be the same as that used on the 2.0L Fiat versions. I wonder whether there may be a confliction between stated sizes with respect to the dimensions of the 'cover' and the 'disc' itself as I discovered inconsistancies of part numbering & description when I was sourcing the clutch set......maybe what is described as 215 & 230 could be both the same item. Either way I am looking to mate the standard lancia engine with the standard lada gearbox in whatever is the easiest fashion. I have also assumed that the mounting of the gearbox to bellhousing is the same on the Lada as it is for the Fiat.....(hard to think why it might be different)......but I don't have a Fiat bellhousing to check one against the other with. I felt sure that there would be plenty of you guys out there with more knowledge and experience of these things than I have and I very much appreciate the advise that is being posted. I am aware that the increase in power is likely to have a detrimental effect on first the gearbox itself and then the rear axle and have included for suitable replacements to these areas as part of the phased mods to the engine. However 1st things first lets get the thing running because it's been sitting on the driveway unloved for too long anyway. Title: 230mm clutch Post by: wak131 on July 28, 2009, 04:13:03 PM When browsing different part supllyers pages I saw the 230mm clutch set advertised for the 131 Volumetrico. And i also think on all 131s 2.0L is 215mm clutch.
Title: Re: Bell Housing for 2.0 litre Post by: TOAD on August 05, 2009, 05:34:17 PM Hi, I used a 230mm Grale (push type) clutch on my road 131 and then the track. The only change that was made was the flywheel was lightened to compensate for the clutch being heaver. To drive, it was perfect, high power capability and light on the foot in traffic. It was mounted on a standard 2Ltr 131 flywheel, redrilled.
