Title: twin linkage
Post by: MF 131 on July 24, 2009, 12:07:34 AM
Hi has anyone got a photo of there twin sidedrafts throttle linkage.Reading what David said that you can use the Standard Fiat set up but turned  over would be great .Which model cable is used.Standard single weber is a pull. The Dellortos are a push down to  open. Cheers Gary

Personally I would recommend using the correct twin linkage set up for the fitted carbs. Twin cable set ups are better in my opinion as the twin carbs take quite a bit of opening as they tend to have pretty strong return springs to ensure all four butterflys close correctly on idle.

Gary, look at this pic, engine seen from top, 2 sidedraft Solex carbs, push down to open like Dell'ortos. Setup works perfectly.

Cheers, Robert

Hi Gary i just emailed you some pics of my weber 45s & the 2 sets of delorto 40s that i have, the delortos are different than each other as the linkage control on the set on the engine is at the back of the cam box? idont know the history of the carbs just bought them along the way, a new linkage is about ?70 on flea bay + post & thats probably the best way to go & new cables are about a tenner, hope this helps, Nick.

Go with the solid linkage and not the cables as the cables stretch and will put the carbs out of synch on you....

Hi Thanks for the response will pick all the best bits and hope to have an efficent linkage. The twin cable set up are about $300.00 down here.As i have both throttle cables .over cam and around front of engine. Will see what works best. Will post photos when finishes. Thanks again. Cheers Gary

On the rally cars we work on we fit twin cables as a precaution only in case one breaks,
and both pull on a solid link with rose joints (not a cable for each carb as they would never stay in balance)

If this is a road car stick with a single fiat cable and adapt the linkage as mentioned in an earlier post as you have to modify the throttle(gas) pedal to take the aluminium block for the twin cables

Gary,

I have the standard linkage kit for the 45mm OER carbs on my 125 but didn't use it and it's for sale.   I have a very good set up on the 125 which you are welcome to come and have a look at.  The 131 is here now if you would like to have a look.  I just tried to ring you to see if you have the bottom window guide for the 131 right hand side door as the one on my 131 is missing.
