Title: R.I.P. argenta (another one bites the dust)
Post by: djape1977 on August 23, 2009, 12:53:15 AM
how shall i put it?
couple days ago a friend of mine bought an argenta for 170e  :o . unfortunately, restoration was not his top priority. he wants to build a super 7 replica. so oily bits is what he's after. therefore, i had to salvage what could be salvaged  ;D

since i don't plan on getting mysef an argenta anytime soon, you can guess what i was after. all the bits that fit 132. since there's a lot of little bits neither of us need, that;s where you argenta lovers come into the story. any parts you need for sale at rock bottom prices! trim, lights, interior, rear wings...
parts exchange also possible, i think you know what i'm after  ::)

Not a problem to me. If it is yours you can do what you want with it. Parts have been saved which is great, it will help keep others going. My only negative is it did not have the original wheel trims on it despite being a series 2 ::)

well it wasn't mine so it really wasn't my decision

due to very bad condition of the roads in serbia and bad driving and parking manners, wheels are often damaged and those plastic wheel covers are considered expendable so it's highly unlikely that you'll ever see originals on any car in serbia

Of course it is sad to see the cars as deteriorated as this...but interesting to see them nevertheless - any background story on this one...?  :)

ex taxi. that's why it's yellow. working vehicle untill 2002. and than parked in a back yard, under a tree, and left to rot.
i bought it for 150e and drove it back to my place couple weeks ago. except wheels, there's also a engine from 132 1800cc in it which seems to be working fine. working power steering, noiseless diff and gearbox, heated windshield... there's some interesting stuff still on it.
sold the gearbox yesterday, and when i sell the body stripped of all usefull bits to scrappers, i'll make my money back, meaning that engine and rest of parts are free.

it's interesting to dismantle old cars. despite it beeing a very dirty job, one can learn a lot. after dismantling a couple of these i could put one back together pretty much knowing what goes where. also, it gives a great insight in usual failure points of a specific model, making it easier to prevent problems in future repairs/restorations.

it also provides me with a bit of cash to redirect into my costly restoration projects and into salvaging rare models...

Yeah I find it quite interesting, we have a chain of wrecking yards here called "pick a part" where you have to pull everything yourself and you would always learn something about how different manufactures put their cars together or trying to work out why some of the cars were getting wrecked when sometimes they looked like they were in quite good condition until they ended up in the yard.
