There are products you can get that are supposed to seal the inside of the tank, however, it is unusual for the inside of 131 tanks to rust excessively in my experience so I also would recommend replacing it.

The Frost stuff is good but a good motorbike shop will stock similar products as I got mine up in Dublin for about 20 euro and it treated a 30 litre tank on my Ferguson 20  ;D ;D

Hi enda the frost product is S200 & is ?25 which will seal a 18 gallon tank, the irish agents are
motors inc,
unit 24,
northwest centre,
northwest business part,
blanchardstown,dublin 15
018665865
give them a ring first they ar not rip off ireland merchants you pay similar price to frost, thats the product code for the fuel tank sealer on its own there is a kit avaliable for ?53 code S208 it has tank cleaner & other stuff which i used i think? its a few years ago now & the tank is perfect.

Why would I need a tractor to move my cars as maybe you are too use to Ladas but I find the ignition key works perfect for me  ::) ::) but why are my cars for sale, is there something special sitting in a small lock up in Tuscany  :o :o as I have always fancied a 1920's Fiat Torpedo.....

Hi Enda i had a look at the kit today & it has extra cleaner & metal ready to make sure the sealer does its job thats why i went for the kit guranteed to work, id say that ascona tanks are rare, did you try totalopel site?

I tried the total opel site and they said that an early vectra one would work I have 2 ascona tanks and you wouldnt believe the amount of rust they have on the inside and one of them is out of a diesel

If thats the rwd ascona which was same chassis as mk1 cavalier with the fuel tank upright behind the rear seat, when I was working as a mechanic for a vauxhall main dealer from 1983-85 I can remember changing these tanks on three or four year old cars as they had rotted out !  yet I have never had any trouble with 131 saloon tanks rotting

I restored a manta gte boot type earlier this year & the only thing that wasnt rotten was the tank Lol!  she is very nice now all finished in white, proper job & a very happy customer.
