Post by: Andy c on September 12, 2009, 06:59:33 PM
On the 19th sept 5 of our 131s are convoying down the M4 to the Castle Combe circuit for the annual
Rally day, even though our booking was late and they are sold out the organiser was keen to have some Fiat 131s on show so we are being squeased in at the quary corner.
Been to this event before and its a great day lets hope the weather stays dry.
proberly meeting at the Reading services juust need to decide on what time gates open 09.00 but we
dont need to get there spot on time, sure there be plenty of pics

Hi Andy,

Will be good to get 5 Forum 131's together. 8) Well done Sir. ;)

Can you put up here who the five are? Are they -

1) Andy - Abarth replica
2) Simon - 131 Abarth Stradale
3) Theo - 131 Sport???
4) Graham - 131 Volumetrico???
5) Jason - 131 CL???

Can we squeeze in any more or are we limited by the size of the area allocated?

I think we need to get there quite early otherwise we'll end up having to queue into the venue - which won't be good for our aging vehicles. ;)

Tickets arrived today with car passes,if possible they want people set up for 09.00
so shall we meet at the Reading services for 07.45-08.00

we want gate 1 area D1 at quary corner which if the same as before should be a good spot for when the rally cars go track

we meet at the Reading services for 07.45-08.00

:o :o  That's early!  :o :o  That means I'll have to be on the road by 6:45am! I am not sure there's such an early time on my watch!  ;D

Jason, where do we meet? M25 Junction 24 or South Mimms services? Getting in and out of South Mimms will add about 15-20 minutes to our journey so maybe we should meet at Junction 24 at 7:00 am?

OK, Jason and I are meeting at Junction 24 of the M25 at 7:00am and all going well we should be at the Westbound Reading Services by 8:00am. See the rest of you there  ;) :D

What a great day out!

It didn't start too good for me & Shaz when Voli started to overheat again....bloody thermostat!

Si had a bit of a water problem too and so we all managed to meet up at Reading Services.

The run down to 'Combe' was a lot of fun and I didn't press on too quickly ;) what 2 old gits in a Fartos?

If you weren't sent to sleep by the endless sea of !BLUE! Subarus there were some good older cars at the event......

Yes, a great day out  :D Thanks to Andy for organising everything  ;) It was good to meet up with 131 friends again, see some great cars (and some boring ones  :-\)  some good action on the track and even the weather turned out great. 'Our' cars were parked in an excellent place and attracted a lot of attention. Thanks to Jason for bringing the gazebo (and there's me thinking that all 131 owners are as disorganised as I am).

Did you like the Stratos Theo? ::) ;D

Title: Re: rally day
Post by: Thotos on September 20, 2009, 08:09:16 PM
Did you like the Stratos Theo? ::) ;D

Yes I do like the Stratos. Or rather I like the looks and the idea of the Stratos (purpose designed rally car) but it's not a car I would ever want to have or be able to live with; I need my creature comforts and the Stratos has nothing in that department. If it's a choice between the Stratos and the 131 Abarth then the 131 wins every time in every way  ;D

But did you mean "Stratos" or Lancia 037? There's one photo of a group of Stratoses (or should that be Stratosi) but there's a few photos of the 037. I do like the 037 but once again more as a concept and execution rather than a car I would like to own. I drove a friend's Montecarlo for a while and I hated it even though I liked the looks and the idea of a small two seater mid-engined car.  :-\

My mistake it was the 037 I was meaning. There seemed to be an endless stream of photos of it in the slideshow ;D

Title: Re: rally day
Post by: Thotos on September 20, 2009, 11:06:17 PM
Yes I liked the 037  ;D  Very purposeful car with the looks to match. Also had the very typical and characteristic "rattly" sound that all 037s seem to have.  ;D
