Anyone know where i can get a lower osr trailing arm and a set of springs for a 131 sport?

Yagmur for the arms, there is a separate thread about springs somewhere, Simon was or is looking for some for his abarth.

hi got a front set of springs off ebay.it earlier this year, rear springs are alot more difficult to get, some companies will remanufacture them for you if you have the old ones,

Faulkner springs made some custom rear springs for my Sons Tipo, they where only ?150 with vat and carriage for a pair.

Yes, I am still looking for a suitable supplier of rear springs for the Abarth, but have already been pointed in the direction of Faulkners.

The trouble I have is that I need the original dimensions and load/weights/ratings for the Abarth as mine have become 'sloppy' too and are no use for getting measurements from - otherwise I'll end up at square 1. The only other option I have is to add 40 or 50mm to the overall 'un-loaded' height I already have.

Wouldn't it go something like this,

     The back end of an Abarth should weigh similar to a Sport, yes the rear arches are Plastic, but there is more of it, Bigger arches. The struts on an Abarth seem to be upright, the same as a normal Sport, its just the spring is on the strut and not the axle.  So first thing is, do we know the weight and spring poundage of a standard Sport?
Second, measure the length of the spring you have on the Abarth at it's normal ride height.
Third, send one of the Abarth springs to Faulkner's so they can measure it for dimensions. Thay may ask you about an increase in thinker wire, so I expect that would be on the Od of your spring.

I would think that with the rid height length they will be able to compress the spring to find the load the car is putting on them to reach your cars rid height.

A small guess on your part with some advice from Faulkner should still be better than a droopy rear end.

Thing is that the Abarth, and all series 1 131s to the best of my knowledge, have a different set up to the Sport. The dampers and springs are not near vertical as in the Sport, nor are the springs the same shape. The Sport springs are the same diameter from top to bottom, where as the Abarth springs taper at each end.

I tried to fit the set of Sport rear springs to my Abarth but they were a different shape as well as being quite a bit longer - about 50 to 75mm from memory.

I'll keep trying to find the specs for the Abarth springs, but if I continue to come up blank then I shall send the springs away and ask for copies to be made that are 25-30mm longer and a fair bit stiffer.

Simon, when you took the Abarth springs off, did you measure their compressed length first and then their uncompressed length? Before you ask for longer springs, make sure it's not a case of the springs having lost their strength and compressing under the weight of the car. It might be that you simply need stiffer springs and not longer ones?

      What I was thinking was, if you have the sport spring strength you are a step further on, as I expect the Abarth springs are long gone around the world.
If you know the sport poundage add say, 25% and send the old Abarth ones away to be copied.

Didn't know that about the Mk1 I never got that near to it, I could'ant cut it about so I left it alone.  (We used to call it Roo as in pooh bear)

Here in Finland we have a very well known company called "Vallilan Takomo". They are able to manufacture any kind of spring you like. I have used their services and been really happy. You just tell them the dimensions and stiffness you like and that?s it.

I can not remember the exact prices but I can tell that it was not expensive.
