Title: Fitting a near side door mirror. Post by: mirafioriman on December 21, 2009, 09:17:03 PM My 131 Supermirafiori came with only a drivers side door mirror. Last week I picked up this off ebay:
(http://media8.dropshots.com/photos/686567/20091221/105020.jpg) Before fitting the car's near side looked like this: (http://media7.dropshots.com/photos/686567/20091221/105034.jpg) Firstly I removed the inner trim and then the outer one which was screwed on: (http://media7.dropshots.com/photos/686567/20091221/112441.jpg) ( Sorry for the lack of focus ::) ) I envisaged that the same screws would hold the mirror, but I was wrong :-[ After a walk to the nearby engineering/tool supplier I had these: (http://media8.dropshots.com/photos/686567/20091221/111941.jpg) ( Sorry for the dark photo this time - for some reason the flash didn't fire ::) ) After this fitting was easy and now the near side looks like this: (http://media6.dropshots.com/photos/686567/20091221/112509.jpg) Much better with a pair of ears rather than just one ;) (http://media7.dropshots.com/photos/686567/20091221/112519.jpg) Title: Re: Fitting a near side door mirror. Having seen the rusty green Supermirafiori on ebay which had done about twice the mileage of mine and sold for ?1000 if I was selling mine I would want at least that for it...... Post by: mirafioriman on December 27, 2009, 12:05:08 AM My silver super has a pair of internally adjustable mirrors which I think were originally fitted to series 3 supers. The blue car is a series 2 super so I decided to fit a non adjustable mirror which is what I think the series 2 cars had.
After being used to driving cars with two door mirrors I really missed the passenger side mirror, particularly when reversing or pulling out of tight spots ;) |
