Title: Group 4 Rear Brakes
Post by: 131grp4 on January 05, 2010, 11:34:51 PM
Anyone know much about these, apparently some early works cars ran 1 caliper with a small drum???? certainly cant do that and some ran 2 calipers, anyone know anything about these?

Cheers

Questions are:

A: diameter of the Anti sway bar

B: the following measurements of the rod ends:

C,D, F,H  and X,Y.

Very hopeful for your help with this !\

Miro.

fiatfactory

These rod ends were two female in the rear and in the front female (upper) to male (lower).

I would need the same measurements for the front.

There is one more issue.  These spherical bearings key objective waa to allow the connected parts to flex the three dimensions without effecting the strength of the conncetions.
To allow that the upper head was mounted in 90 degree turn position with respect to the lower one. However the spherical bearings must have some distances on the sides ( some swinging area ) see picture 1.

My question is : is there any spacers between the bearing and the mounting brackets (on the lower control arm and the upper bracket to anti sway bar.

If no spacers are present than the "sphere" must be sticking out ( be wider ) than the housing of the baring (see drawing)

I would be most grateful for your answer.

quite a bit wider, i'd say and it therefore eliminates the need for spacers.
that rear anty roll bar looks suspiciously like the one on 124 or lada. get under your 124 spider and take a look

djape

"QUITE A BIT"  is not accurate enough.  ;D ;D ;D

Are you saying this from the picture or a rod you have in your hand (car).

The way the picture was taken is eye-fooling as the rod si not centered on the "sphare " and thus i9t looks like it is very much wider. In reality I expect the difference to be not mote than 1.5 mm to each side.

anti roll bar from 124 spider. diameter 20mm.
identical on lada, apart from fact that lada one is made of softer steel alloy so its a little bit softer

Seems all but diameter (13mm) are same as rear 131 Abarth.

Looks very good !

This is something I will, use until I find an original.

Please tlet me know from what model /year is this ?

I will try to see if I can find one locally.

Miro

PS : Diameter is indeed different , but unless I find something thinner this will have to do  with this . At least this will never brake !

as for 124, i really don't know the year, i bought it recently from a guy that once had 124 spider.
any lada with rear wheel drive, 2101 up to 2107 which is still in production has the same anti roll bar. i guess that thicker ani roll bar will compensate for lack of stiffnes, one from abarth is probably made of much stiffer material.

djape,

progress is being made but now I concentrate on fromnt sway bar

This is what I need, any suggestions ?

The 132 sway bar looks similar ?

Any Lada equivalents ?

Miro

PS: the question od diameter. Actually gr 4 diameter is exactly as from Lada, which meant that Lada has Abarth standard sway bars !! ;D ;D ;D

i have several of those 132 sway bars, i'll take the measures and post here. there's also a rear sway bar from argenta turbodiesel and volumex. i menaged to track down one whole rear axle 13/43 diff, disc brakes and a sway bar all in one, it should be in my hands in a couple of days.

perhaps you should look to other direction... a friend of mine who is a big fan of hunting and fishing has a fiat campagnola and he keeps claiming that rear suspension of 131 abarth is almost the same. i haven't seen it personally upclose but it makes sense
