Yes its a long way off but yes I would be interested in going.......hopefully we could get a location in/around the paddock and worth the visit just to mind-boggle the Ford boys and harrass a Stratos Replica or two  ;)

Ja,

Abarth needs a bit of gentle restoration, and I've been let down by the restorer that had promised to start my car in January >:( To say that I'm 'displeased' is a lot of an understatement I can tell you!

Still, Arbie is now booked in at Mark's for mid-April, on the basis that I get the car back fully sorted by 1st May or else his kids start to disappear one by one ;D ;)

Mark has said that he can't let Theo down again, and that Theo must have his Gamma back to take to the next big Lancia club do - so he needs to do that before Arbie.  8) I only hope he's true to his word Theo, or else I'll be delivering Essex born kids to your door too ;) :D ;D

The suspension is yet to be collected, although I have some coming....I hope.  ;)

Watch this space.

Cheers

Si

Poor Mark? How do you figure that??  ???

He would be so much richer if he was able to do them when he promised their owners he would, cos then there'd be other cars in the 'queue'. ;D ;) 8) :D

There's a big saving for buying in advance (?13 as opposed to ?20  :o at the gate) so yes Andy, count me in for a ticket please. As Children are free in both cases I might even bring Ash too!  ;)

Sorry I can't make it to this one Andy.

Sharon gets back from her overseas trip that weekend and I can't be in 2 places at once (will have to get that Star Trek transporter thingy I bought off eBay working ).

Have a good time there and hopefully some more 131s can attend.

I am pleased to say that due to to Sharons overseas break falling through (travel companys falling like flies lately) I will be attending this event.

How many of us are still going?

I understand that an area in the paddock was allocated for the 131s is this still so?
 :)

Yes Reading services if ok, time... I will attempt to be there on time  ::)
What time did we meet there last year Andy?

Andy,

We need to allow for any mishaps along the way but what time does the event open? We were late last year and ended up having to drive through the crowd to get to our allotted plot. We don't really want to do that again this year if we can help it.

I'm happy to meet at Reading services again.

Andy, give us a time and we'll be there. ;)

OK then, 07.30h at Reading Services on the M4 - west bound. 8)

Graham, knowing your "fondness" for being late, if you aim to be there for 05.00h we should all arrive at the same time tomorrow morning! :o :D ;) ;D ;)

well did you all get there on time 8)
and did anyone take a camera  ???

Title: Re: rally day 2010
Post by: simon131 on September 21, 2010, 06:59:59 AM
Only two cars on the www.131mirafiori.com stand this year which was probably just as well as the plot wasn't exactly huge! ::) Andy and I "flew the flag", (we must get ourselves a flag for these kind of shows ;)) and yes Jason, we did take our cameras - pics will be posted up when I get a minute. 8)

Lots of interest generally, not least because our two cars gave a welcome relief on the eye among the sea of Subaru Imprezzas, Mitzy Evos and assorted 'sporting' Ford Focuses! ::) It was a bit 'chav city' in part but the weather and traffic were kind and the event generally well organised, so it made for a good day out. ;D

How not to start a conversation with me about my car - "Has it had much welding?"  >:( >:( >:( ::)

Pics will be posted in due course.

Simon

Other meaningless boring comments could have been:

1) Has it got any filler.

2) Wouldn't you rather have an Imprezza, Evo (the thought of it)!!

3) The RS Escort was a better Car.

4) The RS Escort was a more successful Rally Car. Ignorance.

5) It's not worth as much as my fully chaved up 2.8i Capri.

Can anyone else add to the list of such comments.

Rob ;D ::) :D

How about this one?

Which type of Lada is this?

Something what happened to me a couple of years ago. It was in the middle of summer and window was open:

I was waiting for right turn before a traffic light in my Stradale. Car stops left of me. Mother and son. The son says:"look mom, a Maserati". I said:"no kid, this is a FIAT"... You should have seen his face.... :D :D :D :D :D

I thought the way to start the conversation is "Now that's not a bad replica!"  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Another one Andy overheard recently, when some 'expert' was discussing my Stradale with his mate - "That's a replica because it only has one carburettor."  ::)

Yes I'm sorry Andy, Si and everyone, I'm affraid luck was not with me on the run up tp the event.

I was hoping to have Voli ready but that did not happen (and still has not).

As a back up vehicle I was going to borrow my friend Marks car (not a 131 but a similar shape).
His car decided to develop a fault with the power steering a couple of days before we were going so that pretty much did for us  :(

Hey theres always 2011  ???

Heres what I was going to take...

Nita has sent me a pic or two from this event too, which I'll have to dig out and resize prior to posting - which I can do now thanks to new software ;D.

Sorry for the delay Nita - will post up as soon as I get a minute ;)
