Title: gearbox abarth ? Post by: tonystar801 on May 03, 2010, 02:13:41 PM hello everybody, what is the difference between these two gearbox?
The reference is almost the same, except that one of the box is written abarth. I'll put on my engine that develops 2000 130cv and I do not know which to use. It is in a 4 doors, I do not pose a problem to make a hole in the chassis. thanks you (http://moe.mabul.org/up/moe/2010/05/03/img-160807iytmw.jpg) (http://mabul.org/) FIAT 131AB 1A 1005 4336983 3A (http://moe.mabul.org/up/moe/2010/05/03/img-16091599git.jpg) (http://mabul.org/) FIAT 131AB 1A 1005 4336983 1B (http://moe.mabul.org/up/moe/2010/05/03/img-161001d8e0u.jpg) (http://mabul.org/) (http://moe.mabul.org/up/moe/2010/05/03/img-161317lmbtc.jpg) (http://mabul.org/) Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: kev131 on May 03, 2010, 03:52:37 PM The one stamped Abarth looks like it came from a 131 Sport - From the looks of the gear stick and the angle of it on the other one, it could be a lower version of the 131, 1300/1400/1600 CL, 1300/1600 S2 Super, maybe even a Diesel...someone with a reference book withthe numbers might have more exact info... :)
Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: tonystar801 on May 03, 2010, 04:25:34 PM the gearbox with the gear stick with the angle ( no abarth ) was in a 2000 tc motor full stock...
Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: djape1977 on May 03, 2010, 04:48:29 PM gearboxes are exactly the same except for shifter whch is iterchangable. in this case, abarth means nothing. just a mould from which part was cast since it first appeared on 131 abarth. later the remote shifter was used in mk2 2door and mk3 super.
gearbox without remote shifter is not from diesel since it would have a considerably larger bellhousing and the starter motor mount on the opposite side. on the other hand, it could as well be from 132 1,6 or 2,0 since their gearboxes are marked 131 as well Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? You are exactly right - 100% on the target , as usual. MIRO Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: Walezy on May 03, 2010, 07:23:30 PM THose gearboxes might look the same but do not work equally good. I always had major problems with fiat 132 boxes with slide flange and never had any with abarth boxes(with abarth extension).THere was very poor quick shifting. There are also gearboxes with very simmilar(or even the same but i cannot tell it 100% sure) extension lever but without abarth stamp on it.
The boxes with abarth extension have steel synchro rings as for the 132 model i am not so sure about it. Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: djape1977 on May 03, 2010, 07:34:07 PM all 131/132 gearboxes i've seen had steel sinchro rings. ones with extension but withouth abarth cast were from argenta.

I have 3 gearbox lever extension housings, none of witch have abarth cast into them. They all came out of later 2 litre 131's. Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: djape1977 on May 04, 2010, 08:24:00 PM one which is in better condition. otherwise they're the same
Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: Testament on May 05, 2010, 09:45:00 AM one which is in better condition. otherwise they're the same x2 also you can swap the shifter housing/extension housing from one to the other to suit whatever you want. Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: tonystar801 on May 05, 2010, 05:09:27 PM In fact , the gearbox with written "abarth" ( 131 racing ) is the same as my other gearbox no abarth ( 131 supermirafiori 2000TC) ...???????
Title: Re: gearbox abarth ? Post by: mirafiori76 on April 29, 2012, 09:17:21 AM All gearboxes may look the same, but in fact, the inner side differs. That is for the fifth gear. There is a small differnce between 5th from Racing/Sport or Supermirafiori.
