Title: 3ma10 The story so far
Post by: Thotos on May 17, 2010, 06:40:34 AM
I intended to have a post entitled "3ma10 as it happens" and post daily accounts giving you all a taste of 3ma10 as it happens but that obviously hasn't happened!  :-\  No internet access for the first day and having days fully packed with activities meant I couldn't post daily. But hey, if you really wanted to know what's going on you should have been here   ;D ;)

What can I say about 3ma10 other than WOW! 3mas just keep getting better each year and 3ma10 is certainly no exception. They say "a picture is worth a thousand words" (or something like that) so for now enjoy some pictures of 3ma10 so far and I'm sure there'll be plenty of detailed accounts of each 3ma10 day soon.

It's all over now  :'(  Team GB is on the Norfolk Line ferry back to the UK and the traffic jams...  :'( We had an absolutely wonderful time and already looking forward to 3ma11. We still haven't decided on the dates and not sure of location but all will be revealed soon  ;) :D

As usual, 3ma11 will be over 4 days, most likely a Friday to Monday between the middle and the end of May 2011. If there's any dates you already know are NOT good for you then please let us know.   ;)

Team GB is back home now. In my case just 2503 Km (1555 miles) of trouble free and very enjoyable motoring  ;) :D ;D

Hi Theo,
the only good dates for me are the last weekend in May (28/29) and the first in June 4/5) 2011.
I could possibly make 3rd week in May (21/22) but could be problematic depending on the location.
Any ideas where 2011 is going to be?.
Steve

3ma11 is almost certainly going to be in England (we thought it's about time!  ;) ) and most likely to be South-west England i.e. Cornwall/Devon. Traditionally we try for the third weekend in May although last year it was a week late and this year a week early  :-\ As soon as we have the dates they'll be published on the website of course.

Blimey Steve, with virtually a whole years notice isn't it possible to swap the dates you are away at work?

As Theo has already mentioned, it's likely to be a little later next year, with the weekend of the 21/22 May 2011 looking favourable (with me at least! ;)) but this I'll have to confirm with the '3MA Management'.

Location, again as Theo has alluded, is likely to be S W England, however this could change to Northern England if we are more likely to get better hotel deals and less traffic. ;) Nothing worse than screaming up behind a caravan doing 20 mph, with roads too narrow to overtake. ;)

Watch this space - all will be revealed shortly.

Back in Holland very late last night, looking back at a great event. Thanks to everybody joining the event and of course our german friends who organised it all :)
Ela thanks Roland for the ride in his 911, the grin is still on her face ;D ;D
Simon say hello to your children, they were so nice! And important as we need of course also a new generation of 3MA'ers!
Marko & Laura, great to meet! Some real deep 131 love to come all over from Finland. We will talk soon!

The car worked all event perfect although the brakes have had their best times :)

We are looking forward to a great event in England with again more 131's :D

Northern England ;D
Guess where my second home is?
My dates at work are fixed forever!!!! i work 27/29 day rota that is non flexible, has its advantages.
If Northern England is the place i will offer to partake in any arrangements etc that may be needed.
Some nice places up here, 'Beamish open air museum'.  'National Railway museum York' Lake district 30 minutes away, Hardknot pass (look it up on Google earth), Nissan car plant at Sunderland (maybe arrange a visit) Lots of open roads up Weardale/Teesdale/Tynedale, Northyorkshire moors, Keilder forest, Might even be able to arrange some sort of event at Croft Autodrome, Durham City, Newscastle Upon Tyne,
Accesibility from Northern europe can be via ferry to Newcastle.
Im at your service?
Steve

would love to go to Cornwall if favourable - was something we were thinking of doing anyway sometime next year or north west England but the only weekend in May i can't make it is the 21/22 may as we have a big family wedding in cork that weekend and impossible to get out of.  any other weekend will definitely be there.... looking forward already and jacqui will def get time off to make sure she does not miss it either.

what fun ... although I arrived late & left early :o  & not in a 131  ::), not bringing the sun :'(.  Thanks to everyone with whom I shared some interesting stories, few (only) about cars, many (mostly) about their drivers.

In case any one cares, the small trip to s. euro got longer in km & time driving...but went well ... although the weather was "summer-chilly" everywhere I visited.
