Title: A Saved U.S. Spec. 131 Brava
Post by: pintopower on August 13, 2007, 06:35:11 AM
Hey there guys! I live in the California and the sight of a 131 only occurs at an italian car show. I have been looking for a 131/Brava for a few years. I had one 1980 Brava 2 door offered to me in white with blue interior. It was 100% original and in very good shape. I went to the mans house to buy it and a fellow club member beat me to it 1 hour before. Oh well. Then, about 3 months later, a friend and I bought out the COMPLETE inventory of an old fiat dealer/repair shop. Well, a 1979 131 4 door (light blue)  came with it. The car broke down in 1988. It had 55k miles on it but lived outside. The interior was a wreck, but the owner religiously put silicon on the rubber gaskets of the car. Living in California and never knowin rain or salt, the car survived perfectly intact. No rust, no dents, no dings, BUT a trashed interior and paint job. It was given to the shop in 2005. I got it in april, rebuilt the carb, changed the fuel pump, lines, master cylinder, cleaned the gas tank, bled all brakes and now the car runs like a champ! I have big plans for it but I have a Fiat Strada and a Ford Pinto in front of it. For know, like all my cars, it lives covered and in a barn. I have also attached a photo of a friends 131 wagon. Hope you guys like!

Some lovely looking cars there! We have the problems with salt and rust that you Californian guys don't have to contend with. It is much easier to strip and respray a rust free shell! ;D The white car looks like a 2 door Super. We never got those over here only the Sport or Racing as it was known in Europe. Good luck with your project, keep us all updated!

Thanks alot guys. The 131 Panorama was the shop car for a Fiat shop here since brand new. The shop, Moran Motors/Cavalier Sports cars, used that car every day since new. It is a 79 Carb. model car. It has factory A/C (that works), 5 speed, and power steerinf and brakes. The motor has 310k miles on it! It was painted once in 1987 or 88 and the interior was done in 2000. The car is really pretty and probably one of the last Panoramas in the US.

The silver car withe the Bi-Turbo wheels is all original. Well, aside from the
