The last owner should have used the original bases as the plastic inner part clips into the holes and insulates them from metal to metal contact between the screw and the door thus preventing rust. Also the original holes in the door are bigger so that the plastic base can be inserted and they are also spaced differently.

Post by: sid131 on May 31, 2010, 05:38:11 PM Seamus fit nut inserts & use stainless m5 screws like i did with the mirrors on my celica, dont be using self tappers anywhere, you can get a silverline insert tool on ebay for about ?15 & the inserts any good screw supplier in Killarney will stock them
