Title: I really would like to have some of these...
Post by: MarkoH on May 31, 2010, 04:27:23 PM
...nice accessories from late 70's. These were sold in a Finnish mail-order catalog. I think they had no idea where put the roof spoiler...  ;D

I can remember those glass sunroofs being fitted to loads of cars in the early eighties but thankfully my sport was saved from this.  The picture above looks like someone has visited halfords in their 131 on a sunday afternoon and fitted every bit of tat they had in the shop !

I think they look quite good on the 131 its an era thing and that was the in thing at the time so i would consider fitting one if i had one as its retro as they say nowadays

I have to agree that the sunroofs are daft but at the time they were the way to go, i even fitted one to a 1967 mini with sliding windows (wish i still had it) i have a 131 sport here with a sunroof & its horrible but back in the day it was the biz!

I like the look with the louver and the sunroof. But especially for the sunroof should be placed by who knows how to cut the roof because we have enough rust without it...

A man I knew in the 80s fitted a sunroof to his 30 thousand mile gunmetal grey sports and it was an inch to much to the left sickened :-[

A sport I owned in 90/91 had one fitted by a previous owner and it used to drip on you first thing every morning and I hated it although I did like the original steel factory roofs but they were rare in 131s. The full lengh webasto roofs were worst of all as when they got old and leaked a bit they rotted the inside of the roof.

Mine was well fitted but tends to vibrate above 90mph & it does not leak which was a surprise  :)

Here are the prices in Euros. The prices are converted from Finnish Marks to Euros. The price shown includes the factor (2.657) which defines the value of the money in 1980. 100 ? in 1980 = 265.70 ? in 2010)

- The louvre, 165 ?
- Chrome side exhaust, 156 ?
- Roof spoiler, 165 ?
- Boot lid spoiler, 169 ?
- Front spoiler, 125 ?

Unfortunately there is no prices shown for the sun roof...

With this factor I calculated the price of my car. In 1980 my Racing's list price was 65 900 FIM. Nowadays it equals to 29 450 ?...

?7000 Irish punts = ?8890 Euro

You have to understand that the value of the money has changed dramatically.

If you had 8890 ? in 1980, nowadays it equals to 19900 ?.

...

If I just convert the FIM's to Euros without the factor of the money value change, the prices are:

- The louvre, 62 ?
- Chrome side exhaust, 59 ?
- Roof spoiler, 62 ?
- Boot lid spoiler, 64 ?
- Front spoiler, 47 ?
