Back in the late '80s I went searching for an X1/9 for the wife and it took lots of 'looking' before I found one worthy of a test drive ::) Anyway, took it out and it seemed fine, so I asked the wife to drive it......she hated the driving position :-\  so we never bought it!! ::)

I've had lots of 128s over the years, saloons, coupes and 3Ps and thought that an 'X'ey would be a good addition. I know they can suffer from rot and over heating, especially if the coolant isn't regularly changed as the long steel pipes from the engine bay to the front mounted rad can fur/rot.

I haven't really the space in my wallet  ;) for any additons to the fleet at the moment - but a man can dream. 8)

I can remember a W reg silver X19 outside a local scrap yard in 1989 and it was as new. It was left at the yard because the engine had blown. I asked the the owner of the yard how much he wanted for it and he said " I hate Fiats im going to squash the bastard "  which he did !!

Thats the one Sid -your a diamond -I remember seeing it on the paul hogan show with the missus years and years ago -I never stopped laughing for a week as I was still in the trade then -and diesels had  terrible start problems before the modern units we have now-and everyone bought cans of easy start to get em going -but after they had 'sniffed'easy start you could never diagnose what the starting problems were in the first place.
Some customers started there diesels by throwing a can of easy start down the intake -and then if it still wouldnt start -set fire to the vapours out of the exhaust -then beleive it or not there car would start -How the hell do you fix that in a garage  ;D ;D

Thanks ever so much for posting that link -It brings back very good old memories  ;D ;D
