Title: GKMR10 - Full Details
Post by: kev131 on June 23, 2010, 04:35:06 PM
Dates: 24th & 25th September 2010.

Location: Connemara Coast Hotel, Co Galway.

http://www.connemaracoast.ie/

Friday: Arrive afternoon/evening for socialising and tyre kicking.

Saturday: Touring in West Galway/Connemara. Likely to be an early return so an opportunity to avail of hotel facilities.

Sunday: Late breakfast and avail of Hotel facilities if required. More tyre-kicking and depart.

Rates: ?69.00 per person sharing which equals ?276 for a couple for the weekend. There is NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT for the first 5 rooms booked on that basis - (Price for single occupancy ?138.00)

What's included.......?

  • A full four star hotel located close to the city of Galway (approx 3 miles away) directly overlooking the fantastic Galway Bay with views of the North Clare coastline.

A five course evening dinner, bed & breakfast for both nights.

    Free live entertainment both nights.

Complementary teas/coffees and scones upon arrival.

Free segregated parking for our group (one of three car parks).

Free use of all hotel facilities including leisure centre, swimming pool and outdoor hot tub. There is also a beautician on site who can be booked in advance - This is a paid for service but I can't think of anyone in our group who would need this type of attention!
;D

What to do next? If you would like to attend please telephone the hotel directly on 00 353 91 592108. Why not do this now to ensure your booking is safe and post on this thread when done?

The hotel has reserved 20 rooms for our Classic Fiat Car event. Please mention GKMR10 when booking. The rooms have been held until 5th July 2010. If you book by then you will be guaranteed a room. If you leave it until later, there is a risk of full occupancy at the designated hotel and having to make alternative arrangements.

Here are some pictures of the hotel. I have a route map prepared for the Saturday drive - It was written for GKMR08 but was not used - Hopefully it will introduce most people to a beautiful corner of Ireland that they have not visited before.  ;)

Looks like another one of Kevin's good weekends away. 8)

I am sorry that I shall miss it again this year  :( as I shall be away in the English Lake District with all the adult males in my immediate family. Should be a laugh as long as my brother doesn't snore ::) :D

I dont think the roads will be anything like the Healy Pass so it should be a calm affair...or at least calmer! ;)

Twelve out of our 20 rooms booked as at 8.30pm tonight.

Hi Seamus - There are 15 rooms booked and I expect some cars will turn up without having a room booked at the hotel.

Now we just need to sort out the weather for the hot tub!  ;)

Good news - cos it's raining cats and dogs here today...!

Just spoke with the hotel...We have a reserved parking space near the road - Pull in towards reception and turn right and back on yourself to find it - Should be coned off.

Dinner is planned for 8.30 on Friday night to allow for late arrivals and at 8.0pm on Saturday - Later than normal because of a wedding. Hope that suits everyone.

I'll have a brief document prepared that outlines a rough overview of the weekend for everyone ...along with a route map for the drive on Saturday. Any questions...just ask.  :)

Weather forecast:

Tomorrow
Bright and sunny tomorrow and dry, apart from the odd shower, but it will be a rather cool day with fresh northerly winds.

3 Day Outlook
The weekend will be dry and sunny but with much lower temperatures, generally in the range 12 to 14C during the middle of the day. The winds will be light but they will be from an northerly direction. Saturday night will be coldest night of the season so far; temperatures values will drop to low single figures and there will be a widespread frost throughout the country. Over the early days of next week, temperatures stage a gradual recovery to more normal levels around the mid-teens. Generally the weather will hold dry for Monday and most of Tuesday, but rain will begin to effect the west by next Wednesday.

Looks like a dry weekend.... ;D
