Title: Question...... Your help please.... Post by: greek mirafiori on May 10, 2011, 02:21:42 PM I have a liitle trouble with my 131.... I have to replace the part you are going to see in my photos...... It is attached in the front of the engine and transports the water from the thermostat and the radiator to the engine. Does anyone know its name in english? Do you know where can I find? I have already asked Yagmur and I am waiting for his answer...

Title: Re: Question...... Your help please.... Post by: david on May 10, 2011, 05:38:23 PM You want to use some antifreeze in your engine (50/50 mix) as it has corrosion inhibitors and stops the parts corroding like this. its not just to prevent the engine freezing up.
Title: Re: Question...... Your help please.... Post by: greek mirafiori on May 10, 2011, 08:57:37 PM I use only anti freeze and I can't understand how this happened. Maybe because of the long stay in the car.....

Maybe because of the long stay in the car..... But you do mix the antifreeze with water? Title: Re: Question...... Your help please.... Post by: Tas131 on May 11, 2011, 03:08:12 AM Give the block and radiator a good flush before you put it all back together. Use a good quality coolant/antifreeze/corrosion inhibitor, in theory they should be replaced every 12 months, although some manufacturers say 24 months.

Regards Title: Re: Question...... Your help please.... Post by: david on May 11, 2011, 02:26:30 PM I don't understand as I have left a 131 in a garage with 50/50 mix of antifreeze in a garage for six years and the cooling system was clean as it could possibly be ( virtually as new ).
The only time I have seen anything like this is when cars have been run on just water for years. Title: Re: Question...... Your help please.... I don't change mine unless I have cause to drain the system, the 12 months is a product manufacturers ideal. Distilled or de-ionised water is also recommended, so mixing 50/50 coolant and sea water I reckon you'd still get corrosion. ;D Title: Re: Question...... Your help please.... Post by: djape1977 on May 12, 2011, 11:13:47 PM use only paraflu or G12 pink antyfreeze 50/50 mix
there's cheap green antyfreeze out there that just eats aluminium |
