Title: No Fiats, No Italians, Europeans
Post by: Rob 131 on June 22, 2011, 08:39:13 AM
Back in May, I spent a very enjoyable weeks business :) around the Kansas Area of the U.S.A (dodging the Tornado's :o). We travelled around the area extensively and amongst the many Car Dealers and Restaurants, I never saw 1 Italian Car Dealer, or indeed 1 Italian Car  :o :o. I have read on the Forum that Fiat pulled out of the U.S. But why no Alfa, Lancia?? Maybe some of our U.S.A Members can answer this one.

In fact I never saw one Jaguar and maybe a handful in total of Audi's, Mercedes and BMW. 99.9% of Cars were either American or Japanese  :o. Is this just because of this area, or this typical of the U.S.A. For a simple comparison European Cars appeared to be as popular as American Cars are in the U.K.

Fiat pulled out of the American market as a group when the 'Lemon Laws' were introduced (back in 198x?) so there have not been any of the Fiat Group cars, which include Alfa and Lancia, sold in the US for many years. But Fiat are now back in the USA with the 500 which is proving very popular apparently and also with Lancia but badged as Chrysler. And of course all Jeeps are now Fiat so you must have seen lots of Fiat Group cars  ;) ;D
