Title: The Helen of Troy of Motor Cars
Post by: carcodger on July 14, 2011, 07:23:27 AM
The Carcodgers have published their latest article and this time we cover the E Type Jaguar in a piece entitled: "The E Type Jaguar - The Helen of Troy of Motor Cars".

We found some interesting historic pricing data from 1972 in respect of the above and compared this to the asking price of a nice looking specimen currently for sale here in NZ. After allowing for inflation the E Type does seem to have performed very well. Unfortunately no pricing for the exquisite Fiat 131 but you could have got lucky with an 'immaculate' one owner J Reg 128 with 19,000 miles on the clock at seven hundred pounds. That equates to around seven thousand three hundred pounds in today's money. Or - for the "if only we had known brigade" - how about an Aston Martin DB4 in "unbeatable condition" for nine hundred and eighty five pounds - just over ten thousand pounds today.

Probably no pricing for the 131 as it wasn't launched until 1974.  ;)
