Title: Replica 131 Abarth Sump
Post by: royjb on February 05, 2012, 12:24:27 PM
Hi all
Currently on Ebay an Italian seller is selling replica 131 Abarth sumps. I just wish to know if anyone has any experience with these sumps and what if any modifications would have to be done to fit to my 2000cc 131.  Also do they work or are they just a waste of hard earned cash

740 Euro is a lot of coin for a high volume sump. Unless you're looking for train spotter concourse points get an argenta sump.

Thank you. I will look into it.  Will have to look up Fiat wreckers in Brisbane

If its practicality your after, make one from your 131 sump.
Someone had fabricated this sump before i got my hands on it.
Seems straight forward.
Look and you can see the MIG welding made during alteration.

Looks simple enough.  How about clearance with your oil filter?

Clearance is fine, the short side of the sump if you look closely has a curved recess, dont know where the bottom half came from but it looks designed for the job.
Heres a couple of old photos of the sump on the car.

After really studying your sump it appears that towards the rear it has an indentation for steering rack or something and it looks like it could be deeper where the oil pump pick up is.  I have a couple of spare sumps so I will get them out and see how I can modify one

I read somewhere that the Argenta sump was not really suitable for track work.  Is this correct?

If oil surge is your concern you can put more baffling in it and maybe a gate or 2.
