Title: Rear brakes fix Post by: jseabolt on April 02, 2012, 09:48:53 AM If I set the parking brake on my 131 for a few days then try to reverse, the rear brakes stick.
The other day this happened and I put the car in drive and lurched forward a couple of feet and they broke loose. I don't think the wheel cylinders are sticking. I think it's in the self adjusting mechanism since the problem only seems to happen after the parking brake is applied. Anyone know what the fix is? Which component in this diagram is suspect? There should be some big arse springs between the brake shoes that pull them together, away from the drum, when the handrake is released.

'big arse springs 'is that a technical term used for springs down under? just strip it all down and check and a may be siezed cable . slaken off hand brake adjuster before removing drum . |
