Title: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: PZ131 on April 29, 2012, 09:56:11 PM Dear fans of Fiat 131,
Can anyone tell me what should I do with a carburetor that wasnt working for abt 10 years on Fiat 131 1600TC? It looks very oily and dirty. Any advice? Thank you Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: mirafioriman on April 29, 2012, 10:04:54 PM You can buy repair kits quite cheaply. Clean the outside, strip down, clean all parts and then reassemble with the new seals, gaskets etc.
You can buy carburettor cleaner, I usually just use standard cellulose thinners. Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: PZ131 on April 29, 2012, 10:11:29 PM thank you so much

Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: mirafioriman on April 29, 2012, 10:48:14 PM No major problems as far as I'm aware if it is the standard Weber carb. The autochoke can cause a few problems but I would just try it as I'm a firm believer in the saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' :)

Dinis on June 06, 2012, 09:21:29 AM I'm also having trouble with my 2000 TC carburator... It's a Solex TEIE 5-9-10 and I bought a repair kit. Replaced all the gaskets and now, +/- 1 month later the main membrane is also spraying the fuel out.... I opened it and the membrane (PIAMAX) is in worst shape than the previous one... :( Any idea why this is happening? Thanks in advance
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: Thotos on June 06, 2012, 09:25:34 AM What do you mean by "main membrane"?
Have you used any fuel additives that might have damaged it? Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: N. Dinis on June 06, 2012, 09:37:00 AM No... only 98 oct fuel... I'll take a pic of it

As long as it's not split then it should be fine.
In the bottom photo it looks as if you have some rust or paint pealing on the carburettor body. Maybe it's because of this that you don't get a good seal and it leaks? Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: N. Dinis on June 06, 2012, 10:51:52 AM It is split... both of them. The orange one was instaled a about a month ago
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: Thotos on June 06, 2012, 10:55:52 AM If it was 'new old stock' then it's likely that it was dried out due to age and hence it split easily. If you had any warranty with it take it back and try to get it replaced. Also make sure the spring is the original and hasn't been changed by one that is too 'strong'.
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: N. Dinis on June 07, 2012, 10:30:17 AM The spring is thin so I believe it's original... I bought it on ebay... :( And yes it was old stock
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: Thotos on June 07, 2012, 12:17:44 PM yes it was old stock I've had trouble in the past with 'new old stock' stuff. >:( The emphasis is on old rather than new :-\ Buy another one and hope for better luck. Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: mirafioriman on June 07, 2012, 12:38:06 PM Try a company like Eurocarb as they may have new stock available.
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: N. Dinis on June 07, 2012, 01:25:57 PM It's not easy to find for this particular model.... I also have the one I believe to be original, a webber 32, but the automatic choke is broken and I haven't found a solution for it...

Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: hammerbeirne on September 18, 2012, 07:01:40 PM Just a quick Question when i accelerate hard the car dies like its not getting enough fuel would this be caused by a torn diaphragm?
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: Tas131 on September 18, 2012, 09:40:23 PM The diaphragm is for the accelerator pump, if it's not working you don't get accelerator enrichment when you hit the pedal. If you ease into the throttle the car will accelerate all the way to the redline. You don't have a fuel supply issue, you have a delivery issue. The diaphragm is a common part and a not uncommon point of failure, it shouldn't be too hard to find a new one.
I just re-read the whole thread. It's a solex, drop it in a rubbish bin and fit a weber. Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: N. Dinis on November 25, 2012, 11:02:32 AM I know it's been awhile since I last posted in here but my taxi also failed and I 've stopped my life till now. So, I followed Taz suggestion and putted the solex apart. I had original 1600 ohc webber and I placed it on the engine. I believe it's a 32 and yet I'm still having problems with the carburator. I believe that fuel delivery is not enough.... I'm getting tired of this problem. So, What carbs can be used on these engines (2000TC from Racing) wich cars use them?
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: mirafioriman on November 26, 2012, 09:36:16 PM 2000cc engines were fitted with a 34 ADF. 32 ADF was fitted to the 1600cc engines.
Title: Re: Fiat 131 1600TC carburetor Post by: N. Dinis on November 27, 2012, 09:41:22 PM Arround here carbs are not easy to find. I'm trying to apply a Delta GT inlet and respective carburator, let's see how it goes...
