Got to try harder than that Dave  ;) His is a series 2 1300 and the car pictured is a series 1 - and not that you can tell, it's a 1600  ;D

The orange Special in the background is giving the game away Simon!  ;) ;D ;D

Yes I was going to say the same thing.  :)

Is this the car you spoke about at 3MA Simon? Looks very fresh from the photos - I'd say it could be "Heini" standard!  ;)

I'm well chuffed this weekend. ;D ;D Not only have I got my orange S back on the road after about 8 years but I have, as Rob has correctly deduced, 'acquired' another S to go with  ;D ;D

A one owner, 46k miles car, never welded and never used in the rain - totally cherished by it's original buyer - and I am now lucky enough to own it ;D One of the last series one cars being registered in April 1978.

Don't ask me how I've now managed to amass a collection of 4 series 1 131s - it's just something that's happened - and I'm not complaining ;D :D ;D 8)

Nice example. I just need to find a series 2 Supermirafiori in the same condition.

Not used since 2004, in fact the last tax disc expired in 2003, but it's been kept dry and out of harm's way - although it needs a full recommission before it can be MoT'd.

Good news though is that Mark, at IRS in Basildon, has already got the car to run as sweetly as the orange S - and he's only had the car a few hours  8) but I shall have new belts fitted all the same. ;D

Yes Kev, this is the car that I was offered at Brooklands. ;) Goes to show that you never know when someone will offer you a 131! :o ;D I know it's not a twin cam, but I really don't care. I have a very soft spot for these series 1 cars - in case you hadn't noticed. ;) :D

Simon

A fantastic looking S1, in on balance my favoutite colour for a 131S  :) :). Being the last of the line (s1) with a few more standard fit comfort options, this is a superb find  8) 8).

I assume you have got the builders in to construct that triple garage  :) :D ;)

I am also a great fan of S1 look, and IMHO this is the best looking of all 131's.

WOW  :o
Congratulation, what a find  :)

I appreciate your "very soft spot for these series 1 cars"  ;D :D :D ;D

Thanks for all of your kind comments guys. ;D

I'm not sure that even the yellow car will up to the "Heini Standard" but it should make a very good car nonetheless. 8)

Rob, I have already spoken to the builder regarding a new garage - but to start with it will be more of a temporary structure to protect a car from the elements rather than brick built. It'll keep the costs down initially too. (I already have a double length garage which houses the orange S and Abarth, so I just need as home for the 'new' yellow car  ;D)

Heini - I thought having 131s in general was a 'disease' but I seem to have developed a rare strain known as 'Series-one-itis'!  :o ;D

Will you be changing the wheels back to the originals.

Unfortunately the original wheels for this car were thrown in the scrap - by accident  :o ::) so I don't have them. The alloys shown are very slightly wider than the originals which probably means there is a bit more tyre in contact with the road, which, if this weekend spent with my orange Special is anything to go by, is a good thing!!  :o ;D

I'm sure a set of period wheels will pop up somewhere to buy Si.

What a fantastic find - You are a lucky boy!  ;)

Can you post more pics when you can please...interior, engine, etc.

I presume it has the 5 speed and rev counter fitted - I can see the headrests.

I can store it for you till you've extended the garage you know!!  ;D

Great addition to your garage... I am amazed that there are still some in this great condition unrefurbished :o

A couple of pics of the inside. There are a couple of marks on the back seats but nothing too bad and the drivers seat is more worn than in my orange car, but it has done three times the miles! ;)

Does anyone have any sales (or manufacturing figures) figures for Mirafiori's between 76 to 84. It always appeared to me that the S1 was more popular in the UK, Ireland and Spain.
