Title: Re: eurovision Post by: simon131 on May 26, 2012, 10:03:30 PM It's almost corrupt the way that countries vote for Eurovision - even if the votes are all phoned in! ::) I think it's about time we pulled out of this and saved our money - buy a hospital each year instead! ::)

Title: Re: eurovision Post by: Thotos on May 27, 2012, 04:13:10 PM Well is theo off to sweden next year Most certainly! ;) ;D Title: Re: eurovision Post by: Thotos on May 27, 2012, 04:25:52 PM even if the votes are all phoned in! ::) But they are not! Call-in votes account for only 50% of the final vote. Each country have a panel made up of 5 'experts' from the music industry (plus one regulator/inspector) who cast their votes at the previous day's dress rehearsal (hence called the 'Jury final or semi') and those 5 people's vote account for 50% of the final vote! In fact since the jury vote was re-introduced in 2009 the favourite song has always won, making the result rather predictable :-\ Maybe they should go back to 100% televoting ;D Title: Re: eurovision Post by: Thotos on May 28, 2012, 02:03:23 PM Australia broadcast the three shows over the weekend of Friday 25th to Sunday 27th May. Although the shows were not screened live, the majority of Australians stay away from the internet and news channels to avoid finding out the results prior to the shows being aired.
Broadcaster SBS also avoid putting any spoilers on their website, so that fans can watch as though the shows are live without finding out the results first. The results of the Australian televote for the Final are (number of televotes): 1 Sweden 72,186 2 Russia 55,270 3 Ireland 50,314 4 Italy 36,130 5 Denmark 33,638 6 Cyprus 27,538 7 Germany 24,958 8 Greece 22,328 9 Ukraine 22,172 10 Iceland 21,430 11 Moldova 21,220 12 Malta 20,878 13 Turkey 20,402 14 FYR Macedonia 18,842 15 Norway 17,694 16 Serbia 17,160 17 Lithuania 15,472 18 Spain 14,164 19 Romania 13,424 20 United Kingdom 12,862 21 France 12,150 22 Estonia 11,824 23 Albania 10,902 24 Azerbaijan 9,400 25 Bosnia & Herzegovina 8,776 26 Hungary 7,336 So while there are differences in the overall pecking order, the first two countries (Sweden and Russia) are the same and the UK hasn't done much better at 20 instead of 25 proving that the UK's position was more to do with the song and less to do with 'block political voting'. Title: Re: eurovision Post by: Tas131 on May 29, 2012, 02:50:24 AM I can't believe so many Australians don't have a life, maybe they should all buy an old Fiat.
Title: Re: eurovision Post by: Thotos on May 29, 2012, 11:41:41 AM According to iTunes, Euphoria, the winning song from the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, is currently at number one in the following countries:
United Kingdom Austria Belgium Denmark Finland Germany Greece Ireland Luxembourg The Netherlands Norway Spain Sweden Switzerland It is also in the top 10 in France and Portugal. So it seems a lot of people like the song. Maybe it deserved to win ;) ;D Title: Re: eurovision Post by: Thotos on June 18, 2012, 01:58:53 PM Call-in votes account for only 50% of the final vote. Each country have a panel made up of 5 'experts' from the music industry (plus one regulator/inspector) who cast their votes The details of the voting for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest have been released. See details below. Obviously Sweden was a winner for both the people and the jury while the Russian Babushkas while loved by the people didn't do too well with the jury. The same can also be said for Turkey. Italy and Spain however, were not liked by the people but liked by the jury. The UK song was actually voted last by the jury so it was only saved from the bottom by the people's vote. So the Brits should stop claiming "we'll never win because nobody likes us" and have a more serious attempt at a better song! ;D Greece was also pushed down the scale by the jury >:( It seems wrong to me that just five people from each country have equal voting rights as the millions of people who pay (for the phone call) to vote! Plus since the jury vote was introduced the favourite song has won making the contest very predictable. I think the EBU should go back to televoting only or just ask me to choose the winner! ;D ;D |
