Title: How to remove rear seat squab?
Post by: Crazypierre on May 27, 2012, 07:11:50 PM
Hi
I need to fit some static rear seat belts on my '79 131 saloon which didn't have any fitted from new.
I can get some aftermarket Securon diagonal belts which need 3 mounting points: 1 at shoulder height, and one at either side.  I can see the shoulder height mounting points with blanking off round things at shoulder height which I assume are threaded holes ready for the bolts.

But I want to make sure there are some anchor points for the centre and side belt points behind the rear seat squab.

How can I get the rear seat squab off? I've removed the seat base which is held in place by two twist screws but can't work out how to get the back rest off.

Any tips/ideas?

Thanks
Pete

There are metal tabs at each end hooked round the frame which can just be bent so the frame will come away. There may be a screw in the middle (can't remember) and then the seat just lifts upwards unhooking from the parcel shelf area.

Thanks Dave,
Once again, you've sorted me out with your handy tips.
Seat back now removed and I've located the anchor points for some static seat belts which I'll order now.
Cheers
Peter
