Title: A little something I picked up on ebay
Post by: mirafioriman on June 27, 2012, 10:59:35 AM
This arrived in the mail today :)

It's the most complete original Voxson radio I've ever seen. There appears to be several designs of these. This one has the removeable front panel option.

It's a very complete unit in excellent condition complete with full instructions, the supressor unit, and even the original Voxson front panel carry case.

I don't know whether it actually works but as it is in such excellent original condition hopefully it will.

Not decided which car I'm going to eventually fit it to at the moment I'm thinking the Panorama estate car.

That must be a late one as the only ones i have had are the ones where the whole set comes out when you release the clip.

Is that the cassete type. The one in the picture is radio only. Had one in my w reg CL.

Yes the cassette type can be fully removeable but so can the radio only type too. I have one in my 132 I think that is that type.

I need to have a look to see exactly what I have and what is where :P

My father thinks his 1980 'V' plate super had this type of radio with the front panel case. I remember the stereo but can't remember the case.

When I saw it on ebay I thought it was worth a bid if only just for the front panel case.

For me it's about the originality. I've had a big system in my Merc with top line Pioneer stuff but for the Fiats I want them to look factory.

That made me laugh Jason - Dave I know how pleasant it is to find original parts for our classic Fiats and I was delighted that my Sport came with a period Blaupunkt radio cassette player when I bought it in 2006....but it was pure rubbish compared with a modern unit. When you drive 1000s of kms on 3MAs and to other shows you don't want to be retuning manually every 10 kms!  :o ::)

Having said that.... it's a great find and I'm sure you'll enjoy having it fitted...  :)

In 1995, I was doing a great deal of travelling around the country for work purposes. The Blaupunkt Radio / Cassette that I think was a dealer fit option was not the best sounding in my 1986 E30 BMW 320iSE :-\

I remember spending the majority (or was it all ;D) a months salary (?600) on then State of the Art Clarion (CD) Car Hifi. It made a big difference to the travelling.

Prior to selling the car, I took it all out reboxed it and still have it in the attic at home. When I did this in 1997 the intention was always that it would be fitted into a classic car. I just need the car now. :)
