Title: 131 Racing group 2 rallycar
Post by: 131rally on August 15, 2012, 08:01:20 AM
Hello,

Im planning to build group 2 rallycar from Racing. It seems it has some Abarth parts homologated, some questions, if somebody know better;
- is the rear drive shafts "floating"? Like BDA Escorts had?
- can the g.4 final drive gears be fitted to Racing stiff axle?
- what is the close ratio gearbox, is it Colotti or Cima, is it syncronised or dogclutch? (2,156 1,565 1,242 1 0,802), the ratios seem to be same as first homologated g.4 box

Somebody propably has good Abarth g.2 tech pictures, please share them

It looks like nobody has information of this G.2 131 Racing. Final drive gears seem to bee different. Atleast Bacci sell them in different prices, so I think theyr different.

I really would appreciate if I could see pictures of old G.2 Racing rallycars. Expecially pictures of engine bay and cockpit, and rear axle too. So please, share your pictures.

as far as i know,( and i have just done some work on a sport Group 2 car) you can fit stradle abarth type body kit but have to retain the bumpers.
can have twin carbs, tubular exhaust manifold and some head work etc.
can have a zf gearbox or fit a gear kit.

Yes, those are Group 2 FIA regulations. The thing Im now mostly interested are;
- is g.4 front hub homologated to g.2? Its in picture showing strengthened front strut
- where to find floating drive shaft modification from, as in homologation
- what kind of throttle body was used with Kugelfischer in g.2

I really would love to see old pictures of front and rear suspension, engine bay and overall of old g.2. Quattro rombi car is for sale and I have seen its pictures. Problem is, the pictures are new, and FIA inspectors want to see pictures of original g.2 at 1978-1981 shape, that would be the way to prove some technical things. Like front suspension support pipes in engine bay, like g.4 and rombi corse g.2.  They will not believe the new rombi corse pictures, cause the pipes etc can be mounted forex. 2004 or something.

Pic of homologated floating drive shafts, the shaft itself isnt in drawing, this is the hub/bearing assembly.

Pics of Ford BDA rear axle, so you can see how its done, I believe g.2 Racing has similar parts homologated, but where to find them from??

I do have full homologation papers for Racing (Sport), I tried to send you e-mail, but it bounces back. Please mail me to marko1vaisanen(atatat)gmail.com so I get your working e-mail.

Im having a problem with the distributor, I think there is no room for the distributor at cylinderblock when kugelfisher and throttlebodies are fitted. I found out the Racing with air-conditioning might have distributor on exhaust cam. Is this true, and does somebody have a sparepart catalog or something like that, which I can use on proving that?

Marko,

The original distributor won't fit because there's the Kugelfischer fuel pump. You certainly need a top mounted distributor. If you use a system like the one i'm offering you, you have to make some more modifications.
I believe i have a right cam, with box from 132 i.e. No distributor, but these can be found elsewhere.
Also, you have to find yourself an intake manifold from Ritmo Abarth.
Actually, it's really simple to add al of this to the engine and produce a lot of extra horsepower... :)

This is the same engine we talked about before in another topic.
Could be a good solution to mount parts like that.

Looks like another f***ed-up stradale. What is it always with all those colors on engine components? Red, yellow, blue... As if a manufacturer would do that. I hate it  ;)

 :)  All of you forgot my question. How can I prove the AC versions had distributor on camshaft?

BTW, some old pics of my ex-131 rally;

The last engine I had, just been assembled.

My last engine throttle bodies, look at the manifold, I had that at the time, it is -76 version of g.4 131 Abarth. It had that manifold with normal butterfly manifolds.

I have heard there was a track race series in Italy, late seventees or early eighties, which was raced with 131 Racings only. The rumour say it was kinda g.2 serie, but with Italian rules. Could somebody verify this, or even have a series name or such? I need to get pictures of the engines, but cannot find the whole serie..
