Title: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: joan131 on September 23, 2012, 10:47:33 AM Hello, my engine 16v is died, the timing belt broke (2 bent valves)
Anyone know the valve clearance on these engines? Thank you. Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 11:17:39 AM What engine do you have? Original 131 16V? What's the set-up? Standard 140 bHp?
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: joan131 on September 23, 2012, 03:02:46 PM Original 16v.Camshaft: Lift 13,0 mm, interverence 5,5mm with spraed angle 105 rad,new bore size, forged pistons, larger diameter valves, 36.5 and 31,5mm, weber carburetors feed 44idf, 180hp-200hp power estimated.
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 03:07:21 PM I guess standard clearence isn't suitable in your case. Engine is modified, it seems. Never checked clearance before? What do the other valve clearances say? The ones that are not broken, i mean.
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: joan131 on September 23, 2012, 04:14:30 PM In other valves the setting changes, varies between 0'40max to 25min intake, in the exhaust varies 50max 30 min
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: 131rally on September 23, 2012, 06:25:53 PM I have the factory manual for 131 Abart Stradale. I will check when Im at home.
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 08:17:00 PM I have the same manual here. I also have the clearences for my 230 bHp engine. But i don't think both are very helpfull for an engine that's slightly tuned. 180-200 bHp is right in the middle of the specs i have here :-[

Marko Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 08:35:51 PM I don't have them nearby right now, but i will have them soon.
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 08:47:53 PM But is it of interest if i put some specs here from a 230 bHp engine?
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: 131rally on September 23, 2012, 09:16:11 PM Interesting to hear what is the difference between them. I think the g.4 clearances isnt too far for the use for the fellow who asks them. Ofcourse profile of the cam and springs used will do difference, but still, close enough propably.
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 09:19:01 PM You could have a point here. But then i will put those specifications in my own topic. I think they belong since i am the only 131 Abarth gr. 4 car owner here :)
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: joan131 on September 23, 2012, 09:42:11 PM If you can put the Valve clearance you have in your handbook, you would have an idea as mine, thanks
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on September 23, 2012, 09:55:45 PM I will get them asap for you. I'd really have to search for my manual.
Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: joan131 on October 01, 2012, 07:03:36 PM Hi, finally got the Valve clearance of my engine.0,20 in,0,25 ex.
I wonder if ever mirafiori76 has dismantled its gr4 engine. Does your motor these parts in the cylinder head? Hole spacing I think the interior is very small and does not leave grease well camshafts. Title: Re: clearance valves 131 16v Post by: mirafiori76 on October 01, 2012, 07:10:21 PM No, i never dismantled my engine. Not from my Stradale, years ago, because it never broke down :)
Not from my group 4, because it's not completely build yet. I'm still searching for head bolts. I just found the clearances for my 230 BHP engine in = 30, ex = 35. But i have the "wildest" cams available, together with adjustable cam rods. Besides, the head is from Lancia 037 Group 4 and i believe this one has bigger valves. Did you already put the engine back together? More pictures? |
