Title: NEC Classic Car Show 16, 17 and 18th November
Post by: Rob 131 on October 27, 2012, 11:32:55 PM
I last went to this event in 2005 and thought it was a great show.

As I can recall there were a few 131's and a number of 70's Lancias.

I am planning to go this year. Does anyone plan to show their 131 there. Or if anyone is going, it would be good to meet up. Mrs Rob 131 will also be present  ;D ;D Probably to ensure I don't buy anything  :o :o

Point taken about leaving your car for three days but travel depends on where you live. Try making a day trip to Brooklands from where I live.......

Not much interest then  :'( :'( :'(

Theo

There is an auction on the 17th November, organised by Silverstone Auctions. There is a Bronze 1981 Lancia Gamma Coupe that has been part of a private collection going through.

Looks very nice from the pictures  ;D ;D ;D

The trouble with the NEC Rob is more than just distance - it's the venue itself! They make you park miles away (usually) and you have to take a bus to the Halls, where you are then charged a King's Ransom to see cars you've probably seen before!  ::)

So, sorry mate, but I will take something very special for me to attend. ;)

Simon

All valid points. However with spending 4 years abroad :-\ :-\

I can't wait to get amongst the Classics  :) :) :D

Doesn't seem too bad if you want to take the family, but if you're just on your own then ?18-50 a ticket doesn't seem that cheap. However, I suppose it's the major indoor show on the calendar and big venues cost lots of money to use.

Just found out the parents are on holiday that week and therefore cannot mind the children  :'( :'( (how selfish of them :D)

I don't think the children would appreciate the whole classic car thing  :-\ :-\.

I'll go to the Motorcycle Show in December as an alternative  :) :)

Changed my mind again.

Instead of the wife and I going by train for a leisurely day out. Few drinks on the way back and a meal  :) :)

We'll all going in spite of my comments regarding children and the whole classic car thing  :o :o :o :o

I don't want to miss this one. I'll take plenty of picture and post.

My son and I are going with a friend of mine this Saturday.

I've had a quick look at the floor plans; Great for BL and Ford Fans  :-\

Italian stands appear to be a little limited :-\ :-\ Hope I'm wrong ;D ;D

At least there is the Auction ;D ;D With the Gamma  ::) :D ;)

I went yesterday (Friday) and it was a great show. But first I was reminded why I gave up going to this show a few years ago. THE MEGALOMANIAC, DICTATORIAL, POWER-CRAZY, ARROGANT CAR PARK ATTENDANTS!  >:( >:(  There's probably 67 paved or tarmacked car parks at the NEC and most were half-empty but they wanted me to park in a muddy field!  >:( I simply ignored them, went past them and turned left in the nearly empty N10 car park. I was expecting to go back and find my tyres slashed or my car towed but luckily all was fine  :D

I should have got there earlier than midday as there was a lot to see. I only had 5 hours there and I met up with lots of people which meant a lot of chatting took place  ;D  so I didn't get to see everything  :-[

Here's some of my photos from yesterday.

Unfortunately the lighting at the show wasn't good and in fact particularly bad near the Fiat and Lancia stands where a number of lights were out. I took a small camera with a useless flash with me so apologies for the poor quality of some of the photos.

I had a great day there with my son and a friend. Really quite an impressive show.

Surprised that there were no 131's. Lovely 132 as per Theo's pictures and many nice Lancia Beta's.

My friend is a real photographer type so I will post his 'many pictures'.

I missed the start of the Silverstone Auction. Any idea what the Lancia Gamma wne for.

Good buy judging by the condition. I assume the purchaser is on your Gamma Forum.

No, don't know who bought the car. I suspect it was a dealer and probably not in the UK. The car was 'de-registered' in Italy and was not registered anywhere else. So it would have needed a bit of work and quite a bit of paperwork before it could be registered in the UK and would have to be trailered everywhere so more suited to a dealer.

I'm sure the Gamma will turn up somewhere.
