Title: Re: 131 1975 steering rack wanted Post by: mirafioriman on December 18, 2012, 08:33:45 PM You need to try to identify where the wear is. If it is in the track rods these can probably be replaced. If it is in the rack or pinion then a new steering rack is probably the best option.

Title: Re: 131 1975 steering rack wanted Post by: Thotos on December 19, 2012, 12:33:20 AM 131 steering racks have an adjustment nut to set the pressure between the pinion and the rack and create some damping to the steering. If this is too loose there's a lot of freeplay and you get clunk clunk over rough ground or when moving the wheels.

Title: Re: 131 1975 steering rack wanted Post by: simon131 on December 20, 2012, 08:06:31 AM Yagmur, do you have new steering racks for RHD cars?
James, I thought you said your car was an S-reg? That makes it a 1977-78 car not 1975. Might have an impact on the type/design of rack fitted as FIAT sometimes modified parts. Title: Re: 131 1975 steering rack wanted Post by: Yagmur on December 20, 2012, 10:13:15 AM Hi Simon,
