I didn't realise you had an Alfa 156. I thought you were a Mercedes Man outside of the Classics. Which model 156 is it

It's a 156 2-litre Selespeed Lusso.

One of the last ones made, this is from  the Malaysian Consignment which were not sold and imported into the UK. So it was registered 'new' in late 2007 even though production of the 156 stopped in 2005.

Nice ride Mr. Kyriacou! Much much better than your BMW Compact Mercedes  ;), in technology as well as in design. So we have at least 3 modern-day Alfas here on the forum: my 166, your 156 and Rob's 159  :)

So true :) Everyone should own a alfa, a true drivers car :) I have a GTV6 and the alfa V6 is one of the best engines of all time :)

I hope the Alfa owners don't mind but I've split the topic as the "pure" 131 thread was in danger of being comprehensively hi-jacked!  :P

I also hope you don't mind my choice of subject titles but Robert's quote made me laugh.... ;D

I owned a 155 a few years ago which I had as my daily driver for almost a year. A very basic 1.8 Twin Spark (chain drive rather than rubber belt) which had 170,000 miles on when I took it on and almost 180,000 miles when I parted with it. Great handling car although not very fast away from the lights - and being green it wasn't very 'Boy Racer'-ish but it was fun ;D. I've been looking for another ever since - but they've all been messed with these days. :-\ 

Yes, I agree with you Robert although I actually like the look of the Mercedes with its big rounded bum!  :o  And the little window under the spoiler at the back makes me imagine I'm driving a Maserati Khamsin every time I reverse  ;D

Shame the diesel engine doesn't sound anything like the Maserati V8  :-[  
But the Mercedes does have it's advantages (other than the nice looking big fat bum and cheese-grater grill  ;D) not least of which is its diesel engine. With 200 horsepower (it's been "chipped" with a programmable Drake Box) and over 40mpg average fuel consumption and over 60mpg if driven slowly on motorways is like having safe sex; might not be great but it's OK and there's no itch afterwards.....  ;D ;D ;D ;D

hm, in this case I do prefer the ride in the 166 3.0 24V at 25 mpg with the itch afterwards ;D ;D ;D ;D - and after all, the rear's much more appealing than the CL 203's  :D :D :D

There's another famous Jeremy Clarkson quote, this time specifically on the V6 Alfa 166: "It has an engine. And this sounds like an engine, not like a monk".

I (in 2005) ran a Met Red late 1997 Alfa 155 Twin Spark 1.8.

I bought it because I was building a large extension on our house and not wanting to damage my prized (at the time) Imola Red 330i Sport, needed a cheap car to hack round in.

It had a Sports Exhaust and a KN Filter, together with new Sports Shocks all round. Although the performance was not startling it looked (been one of the last 155's) great and sounded good too.

I am really pleased with the 159. One of the Alloys got damaged (not be me :'( :o) so I am getting all 4 refurbed (so they match). It is also booked in to have the front lower bumper sprayed and the area adjacent to the back doors have attracted a few stone chips and are also getting attended to. A New Front Badge and Chrome Surround has also been ordered.

Should look more wonderful when all the above is completed  :) :) :). However, I am starting to miss my old 5 Series (maybe I have a touch of Simon 5 Series Disease :o :o) and was caught by my son looking at them (520D's) on the BMW Website.

Whatever happens the 159 will stay in the family :). Mrs Rob 131 would become the main driver instead  ;D :o

Theo, with that windowissue I thought about the horrible C4 coupe or a certain Mazda 323 3door ;D Should Citro?n have thought to keep that part as history from their succesful period with Maserati :D

I sold them Jason, too bride under the car, want it on original wheels(but from a 33, same design but not the horrible expensive TRX)

Nevermind the wheels... I LOVE THE CAR...and i'm not into Alfa  ;) :D :D

I have had a good few alfa's over the years but the Alfetta GTV6 is the best one to drive ;D It took me a long time to find a low mileage original unrestored GTV6 the last owner had it for 22 year :o

That GTV6 looks a superb car, and you can pick them up for a good price  :) :)

Unlike 131 Sports which are not such a competitive price  :-\ :'(
