Title: Lancia Trevi Volumex
Post by: bellamacchina on February 24, 2013, 03:05:06 PM
Yesterday this car arrived at my business from a very cold and snowy Italy. A one owner car in good condition. When the transportguys were there the son decided not to sell anymore, funny guy :)It took over 1 hour to convince him and now it is to believe the only Trevi Volumex on the road here in Holland. Of course I am interested when there are others I don't know. A second one will be restored for me also.
Enjoy a few pictures

Series 2 (of course has to be as it's a VX) yum yum. Looks absolutely lovely  :-*  (even if I prefer the look of Series 1  ;)  )
Congratulations  Albert :D
I'm very jealous  :-\ I must do something to my Trevi to make it prettier ...  :)

Theo,  Volumex was also there as series 1 ;) I have 2 series 2 cars and prefer the second series ;D

Theo,  Volumex was also there as series 1 ;)

I bow to your superior Trevi knowledge Albert  :)
The VX was introduced in 1982 as Series 1 and Series 2 was introduced in 1983. We never had the Series 2 Trevi or Trevi VX in the UK so I'm excused for my limited knowledge of these models  :-X  :-[

Production Beta Trevi Volumex I-II series    1982?1984    3,844

Although Wikipedia claims "This development meant the Trevi was the first car fitted with a mechanically-driven supercharger in nearly five decades. It had revised front seats, a matt-black chin spoiler and plusher trim, with the seats upholstered in Zegna materials  And the Zegna cloth, I thought, was only available in Series 2 Trevis. Then again in the Gamma there are cars referred to as "Series 1.5" which were Series 1 cars with Zegna L-Cloth interiors so maybe it was the same with the Trevi VX ?  ???

I just love the way the Italians seem to make cars:

Hey, Luigi, look what I found; it's a Supercharger! Let's put it in that Trevi and see how it goes.

Si Guido, and let's use some of that Zegna cloth we got the other day as a sample to cover the seats and see what they look like  ;D ;D ;D

As far as I know the VXes al had the Zegna cloth or optional leather, the VX came late  in production when the series 1 already almost finished.

You have right Theo about how the italians did it.
Ask pinin to redo the roof and Bellini the kitchen designer maybe also can do a dash ;D

Nice one. And unusual.

Although the dash is a bit of a 'Bellini' nightmare I think. Better in photo's than in the flesh I'd say?

As a Trevi owner for nearly 4 years and having used the Trevi as my every day driver for a long time, I think I can answer that. It's certainly not a nightmare and the Trevi cockpit is a very nice place to be  ;) The dashboard is very low compared to other cars which gives an excellent view out of the car. And the top of the dashboard is totally flat so useful for putting things on it such as tissue boxes if you're into that sort of thing  ;D (I'm not!). With all the instruments and switches recessed into their deep holes there are no reflections at all on the windscreen so not only the driver gets a perfect view out of the windscreen during the day but also during the night.  The only drawback (although I think that's too strong a word to use here) is that the switches (large 'holes') are separated from the tell-tale lights (smaller holes) so switching on, for example, the rear heated window, the driver pushes a button in one hole which switches on the rear heated window and also puts on a light in a separate and smaller hole  :-\ That's slightly confusing but I quickly got accustomed to it and no longer try to push the lit hole to turn something off  ;D. The radio is also a bit of a reach at the bottom of the dashboard but I fitted a remote control radio and of course I can store the remote in the rev-counter 'hole'  ;D and I put my mobile phone in the speedometer 'hole'  ;D ;D

Congrats Albert :)

i like Trevi's, my dad had a brown one in the days...remember the weekend trips in it from Croydon to Derby.

Very nice motor, love the colour too.

Post some more pictures and spec when possible.

A great find and a superb car.

Italian cars of that period had real character.
