It says "racing" which means standard 131 diff LSD - not Abarth. Miro Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: finnie on April 24, 2013, 07:35:31 PM Why would it be different from RHD to LHD ?
Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: Bubu125 on April 24, 2013, 08:47:55 PM ok sorki mistake
Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: 131Steve on April 24, 2013, 09:01:52 PM Why would it be different from RHD to LHD ? The head lights "dip" the other way ??? This could be a case of the correct part for a series 2 (chocolate) axle but the series 2 car in question has the later series 3 (non chocolate) axle fitted hence it won't fit.... Just a thought :) Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: miro-1980 on April 30, 2013, 11:08:13 PM Do not worry 99% of what is offered as "Abarth" on ebay has nothing to do with Abarth at all ....
Miro RE: LHD/RHD LSD ??????????????? ??? It is like a n LHD/ RHD steering wheel. What else people will come up with? LHD/RHD windshield ? Miro Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: longhamrob on May 01, 2013, 08:54:22 AM It was my lsd, one of two bought in error for a 1981 standard unmolested UK registered RHD 131 racing. It also did not fit my other 1979 standard unmolested UK registered RHD 131 racing or the spare diff i have.
I also made contact with 'Toad' from this forum who went to a massive amount of trouble to measure diffs in his possesion all which are identical to mine. This anomoly was the subject of a forum discussion earlier this year to which there was no positive conclusion other than to say there is at least two variations of differentials for the 131 racing. I am suprised this information has been stored away for so long. Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: miro-1980 on May 01, 2013, 08:31:25 PM It may be that some diffs for the UK market may have been equipped with different diffs , but i stand by my position LHD/RHD has no influence on the diff or LSD.
I know at least 3 types of diffs used in 131. This is a more likely reason. But please ,I do not know everything and if I a mistaken - please educate me. Miro Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: longhamrob on May 02, 2013, 08:04:59 AM If i could have proved there is more than one axle type in the 131 racing, Bacci Trasmissionale who sold me one of the LSD's would have had to refund my ?1000.
My other LSD was advertised as to fit LHD models to ensure an honest as sale as possible. It sold and there were 2 bidders, the winner having a London address. To date i have never seen or heard of a LSD that fits the axle of a UK model. I am very interested if someone could clarify this issue. Title: Re: fiat 131 abarth Post by: miro-1980 on May 02, 2013, 08:26:14 AM The devil is on the details .
Maybe we should start looking and some pictures the casting numbers of the diff housing. Does anybody have pictures of a UK racing diff housing / and the UK diff. I have continental raging diff in my garage I could easily compare it. Miro PS what was the diff gear ratio in UK Racing/ sport ? M |
