Title: Back on track again
Post by: Thotos on May 27, 2013, 09:50:38 PM
As part of the Fulvia 50th celebrations, the Lancia Motor Club had a Goodwood trackday open to all members on Saturday 25th May. Even though one must be an LMC member, attendance in a Lancia is not compulsory. I decided to go along with my Lancia Beta Berlina alloys and of course the 131 had to go as well as it's attached to them  ;D ;D It was all going very well and I was very much enjoying it until disaster struck  :-[ It was my third track session and I was giving a friend a passenger ride to make it even more embarrassing when coming out of a tight corner I put my foot down to accelerate and .... nothing! The accelerator cable snapped and I had to coast to the side of the track and wait to be rescued  :-[ As Mark (my passenger) said "we get to see a different view of the track standing on the side". They had to red-flag the session until the recovery truck came to tow us back to the paddock  :-\  I managed to do a temporary repair and in fact I was confident enough (of the repair!) to join the queue to get back on the track but unfortunately I run out of time (I only paid for the morning half day).

I couldn't find anyone selling throttle cables without the complete linkage for twin DCOE  carbs so I've ordered an inner cable repair and "nipple" for a Lambretta which I'm sure I'll make fit  ;)

I'm glad the throttle cable didn't snap while going round the Nurburgring as I believe recovery costs are rather high there!

That happened to me on the A5 coming back from retro cars show in My silver Sport, I screamed past a Ford Orion only to see him creeping up close so dropped it in 4th and floored the throttle and nothing......ended up coasting to a farmers drive for quick fix and back on throttle again to catch him up!
