Title: Pics of my collection.
Post by: mirafioriman on December 26, 2007, 02:20:55 PM
Firstly the first one I bought. Originally a 1600CL Mk 3. One owner from new, top very rusty, but chassis and floorpan was surprisingly sound. A change of colour to BMW stirling silver. Spec is as follows:

2000cc twin cam
Beige velour interior
Power steering
Electric front windows
Central locking
14" wheels
Koni adjustables all round
Mirafiori sport springs
Mk 2 front and rear bumpers.
Mk 2 rear panel and lights
Mk 2 front grille
Twin 40 Dellortos

I took it off the road a couple of years ago to do some work on it, but due to other projects, it has remained locked away!

Second is my latest purchase that some of you have now seen in detail on my dropshots site. A 1300 manual Mk 2 with 56000 miles. It's a good project.

Next my Argenta project. Bought as a non runner, engine was used for a Minor conversion. Now has 2 litre twin cam and gear box, but still does not run!

Then there is my Fiat 131 Panorama project. This was bought from Simon Ryle and you have all seen it before, as it often appears on the websites opening page.

I also have a 1600 T/C auto that has done 49,000 miles, a manual that has done 38,000 miles and a 18,000 mile auto, but have no photos of these available at present. The last one is a Mk 3 super project. This has been stored for a long time by it's previous owner and when you see the pictures you will think it is a total wreck, however it is actually a pretty solid shell. This one may be for sale for someone who wants a project. The front panel needs replaced, but I could supply a new one (genuine Fiat). Both front wings are new genuine fiat, the inner wings need a little work, but are generally sound. The floorpan and chassis are pretty good. All four door frames are not great, but do all have new genuine Fiat skins fitted. One of the rear quarter panels is new genuine Fiat and has been fitted well. The other rear quarter and arch is good as is the back panel and bootlid. The bonnet needs replaced, but I know where you can buy a new one. The roof and pillars are also sound too. All glass is present, the car runs and drives although the brakes need attention, not seized, just a soft pedal. Project anyone?

Hi Dave - Nice little story there - Any prizes for guessing which car is your favourite...? ;)

And is it coming to Scotland in May? Hope it is.

It would be great to see little collection profiles from more members - It's great to hear from other enthusiasts and to see their cars.

Let's hope that the Xmas break gives people an opportunity to add their stories.? :) :)

Just scanned in a couple of pics of how the silver car looked when I bought it. Here they are:

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos. Believe it or not, these are all I have of when I bought the car!

I see that in the transformation process the car has also acquired Series 1 bonnet and boot lid. The end result looks very good and you obviously put a lot into the car. As Kevin said, no prizes for guessing which is your favourite one!

Do the rear wing badges say "2000TC or "1600"?  :)

Re: the badges 2000cc twin cam. It is even insured as one  ;) At the time I bought the bonnet and bootlid new, I was just glad to get them. I was not too concerned about what series they were! Actually this is not my favourite. My favourite is yet still to be created! The paint job was rushed as my friends garage where the car was, was closing down and I had to get it moved pronto! Also I chose silver as at the time the only velour interior I had was an orange sport one. If I had had the beige set I have now, I would have painted it metallic green to make it a replica of my father's car.

I like the silver paint on the car Dave. Also go on with the good work saving cars! I try to do the same in Holland! I like to see some great registrations as on the blue car. GEK means MAD in Holland! One more question, why you like 131's so much? As you have als MB's?

My Father had a series 2 Supermirafiori 1600 T/C. He sold it when he changed jobs and got a company car. I always promised myself one and now I have many! Then the company director of the firm he moved to had a Mercedes W126 560 SEL. After a ride in this I decided I must also own one of these. I now have a 420 SEL so nearly there!

And two other pieces of Stuttgarts ultimate craftmanship! Great cars Dave! I also have some other cars but also the 131 is between my favourites. I just cannot miss the presence of my orange beauty as I adore my blue Alfetta 1.8 Saloon too! Oh, and the rest I also like very much of course. I love a lot of cars because of their different looks and characters. When a 131 is a male car, a Lancia Fulvia is much more female, you understand that? Nice to tell my girlfriend just loves the orange Racing! It is a car you have to work to drive it she says.

My wife has not driven my current 131 Sport but she did drive my previous (Silver) 131 Sport a few times and she hated it. "Feels like a bus and drives like a tank" was the expression she used!

My Mother also thought the 131 we had back in the day was like a tank. Now we have a Mercedes W126 420 SEL and a W140 S320 Limo on the drive and next to these the 131 looks like a mini!

Here is a pic of my daily driver the 420 SEL:

and my 450 SEL 6.9 project as found on ebay a couple of years back:

My previous car a 500 SEL:

My current work in progress, a 300 SEL 6.3: (as bought)

Nice you liked at least the 127 Sport. Nice to know also that the 1st series 127 Sport was introduced together with our beloved 131 Racing(Sport).
Here are a few pictures more to keep the train running!

Gorgeous Giulietta Albert - One of my fav cars - I love the wedge shape ....and hate the instrument binnacle - At least I did when they were new - It's all classic appeal now though! ;)

Kev,

I love the wedgeshape too very much. This Giuliettas were so modern when introduced. The wedgeshape is ultimate here in my opinion, combined with the transaxle and father of the much more beloved( at least yet because it's the last rear wheel drive Alfa?)75. I love the clocks because they are different. It is horrible to see how much fuel is left and the speedo and revcounter go in different directions. Only italians can bring such ideas also on the market! Also the glovebox is so nice and original. But I also love the 2nd series 131 "design"dashbord very much!!
