The below is something that may be of interest to you, as well as to your wider or regional branches.

 

Car club members are being encouraged to be part of this year?s exciting Thruxton Easter Revival meeting on 19-20 April.

 

The special two-day event was established 12 months ago and harks back to the famous Easter race meetings of the late Sixties and Seventies when all the top drivers of the day would compete at the superfast Hampshire airfield circuit in front of huge holiday crowds.

 

Back then racing legends ? including world champions Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart and Jochen Rindt ? would wow the packed spectator banks racing in iconic Formula 2, sports and saloon cars. Many of those historic racing machines will be back reliving that golden era.

 

The Easter Revival features an action-packed programme including classic F2, F5000, Formula Junior, 70s Road Sports plus the opening rounds of the exciting new Super Touring Car Championship with lots of great nostalgic racing on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

 

Keen to provide race fans with an evocative display of period classic cars, the organisers are offering free access for any car clubs eager to be part of the show. A special parking area is being created for classics within the circuit and up to six pairs of free tickets will be offered to clubs registering in advance with Andrew Franklin, General Manager at the Thruxton Motor Sport Centre.

right then 131 ers who what saturday , sunday or both
 its first week of super touring cars as well

Got an email wanting to confirm numbers for a day we can all go on sat or easter sunday  or both .
 it clashed with bristol on the sat and as it 100miles nearer and i went last year i go to this

Saturday sounds good to me  ;)

  re  bromley , i just wanted to do a massive gathering in a field to all get together for our 40th
 may be Stanford ...

I think it needs to be further south than Stanford Hall as the greatest number of active members in the UK are based in London and the south-east.

Saturday is good for me, sounds like a good day out Jason 8)

Finally got car passes through including 2 tickets for each car including pit passes  
  6 cars for Saturday and i got 4 for sunday so some car go both days ..
      where thruxton is it m4 or m3 so which services shall we meet , got to be in by 10am and it open from
 at 7.30am  

M3, then A303. Thruxton is the other side (south west) of Andover. Best services to meet is Fleet Services, just south of Junct 4a, M3.

At the moment I don't have a road legal 131, in fact my Abarth isn't even in the same county, but hope to have the yellow S sorted by the weekend - time permitting.

so we'll meet at fleet... sure we,ve dun that before ..what time 8.30 ish

Following the success of the Thruxton Easter Revival in 2013, it's back again for 2014.
Thruxton was famous in the late sixties for the Easter bank holiday F2 race meeting, where current F1 drivers raced at Thruxton in the impressive F2 category. 2013 saw the return of the Easter meeting with 2014 set to be even bigger.
Historic F2 in association with the HSCC will again provide the loudest soundtrack of the meeting. Other championships also on the schedule are Historic Formula Ford 1600 & 2000, 70s & Historic Road Sports, Classic Racing Cars, Historic Touring Cars, Formula Junior and GT & Sports Racing.
Children 15 and under are admitted free to the Circuit. Children 12 and over, would be required to buy a paddock pass to enter the paddock. A grandstand seat would also need to be purchased for Children over 5

I've just been out to the car to find it's sitting in a pool of it's own coolant :(

To make matters worse I'm away for three days next week for work ??? But being ever optimistic in anticipation of a good day out on Saturday, I have booked the Premier Inn at Fleet for Friday night (flexible booking)  :-\  Will let you know how things progress

Still has less than 16,000 miles on the clock, but yes Jason, I'll be putting a few extra miles on her this year. Needs to be used more to stop her seizing up.  8)

Water leak seams to be be fixed, I'll know for sure when I get home tomorrow, at the moment I'm at my "second some" Coventry  :( :( Looking forward to a good day out on Saturday  8)

It's gonna have to be an early start on Saturday  :-\ or some spirited driving will be required  8)

They will all at their  destination  ;D by saturday morning ..

From Fleet Services to Thruxton Circuit is about 40 miles and on a good day is a little over half an hour - more in a 1600OHV 131 I grant you, but provided we leave Fleet promptly and we have no 'issues' on the way we should be parked up by 10.00.

Phil and Tansy are staying with us Friday night, so if we need to meet at 08.00 then that's fine too. Might be better to be on the safe side.

I'm trying to do spirited driving on the way home from Coventry, haven't moved for the last half hour  ???

The Thursday before Good Friday is always "bad traffic day" so I try to work locally, which I managed today by working from my office at home! :D

Thanks Simon, my diary for the last month has clearly stated today was an "office" day, last week someone decided Coventry was a much better idea ??? never mind home now and the car is still leak free 8)

It was FREEZING all day! But more so in the morning when it was just 5 degrees and probably not more than about 2 degrees with the windchill factor!!!!  :o

But it was a good day out and the racing was good too.

The Lampredi twin cam was represented by a Beta Coupe and a Beta Montecarlo which did well against the Porsches, Ferraris, Lotuses  etc.

Nice day yesterday, good to catch up with people. Shame it was so cold - the only way to stay warm was for everyone to sit (sleep ;D) in their cars :o

I couldn't do classic car racing I think I would spend all my time worrying about having an accident.

Absolutely wonderful to spend time with some of my 131 mates. I'd forgotten just how much I enjoy us all getting together. 8)

As has already been mentioned, the wind was cold - to say the least - and the coffee was extremely expensive - but the company was warm and at least it didn't rain.  ;D

I did more miles in this single return trip (85) than I did all last year in my orange Special and the more I drove her the more she freed herself up and the nicer she became to drive  ;D Clicked over 16 000 miles on the M3 coming home. Not really the sort of car to drive long distance at motorway speeds with four adults on board, being just a 1600 OHV, struggled a bit on the long inclines on the A303, but she didn't miss a beat all day  8)

In the pics above it's interesting how the design of the 131 was developed from S1 to S3 isn't it? They don't look like the same model at all to me.  :P

And mine clicked over the 40,000 mile  :)
