And there's you telling me to buy a Punto!!!  ::) Bloody cheek!  ;)

Nice looking car Ja. I assume you had to sell your soul to the Devil for that! ;D Give us a few specs then. Engine is a 2.0 twin spark? Leather and air con I assume. What sort of miles?

Like the wheels.

Now got to iron out all the bugs of owning an alfa   >:( >:(
and whats with cam belt changes every 36k im desperate for ? ???

Just be thankfull for the belt & change it. It does seem like a low K change period though. They may be erring on the safe side as the damage is expensive to repair if the belt breaks.
My Toyota 18 rg has two chains in the front. The r is for rattle. 18 rg is a 2 litre 8 valve twin cam.
O.

I assume cam belt change is cheaper for the 2liter than it is for the 3liter. The latter cost me 1000? including ALL parts (belt, pulleys, water pump...), and this was a bargain  :o

Do it or have it done - but do it!

Nice one Jas, it's a great engine and glad your getting that belt kit and variator done. Done a few where the plastic guide roller has disintegrated causing belt failure and all new valves fitted. Think the later belt kits had a uprated guide roller.

Nice car! I'm into Alfas also (own a 147 and a GT).
Didn't know though that 166 had a Ti version, and it's the first time that I see the Ti wheels in 18"

Aint stop using it since got the  belts done ....
but clearing out the ulysse  4 shoe boxes and 2 crate's of stuff from 3 glove boxes and 12 cubey hole and behind the back seats ... it doesn't all fit in the 166..

Great looking car  :)

Did you consider a 159. I really enjoyed the Red Lusso that I had for a year ;D. The wife used it for six months after me and regularly laments its passing :'(

Your right Jason. The 159 unlike the 156 is not the cheaper alternative to the rival 3 series and Audi A4 :-\.

This is probably due to the comparative rarity of the 159 (they were never great sellers) and the massive strides in Alfa quality  :). IMHO the build quality was superior to the contemporary 3 series.

The high 159 prices in comparison to the competition particularly relates to the latter Diesel 2.0 170BHP Models ::).

Enjoy the 166, it has always been high on my list of 'Cars that I should of owned :'(' together with more 131's.
